Introduction, Part 1 - Part 1 of the introduction is very fast paced.  And rightfully so - the cinema scene that plays during this song is of Ryu's father fighting a life or death duel with another ninja.  You'll see that this is a theme throughout Ninja Gaiden - songs being similar to the scenes that play with them.

Introduction, Part 2
- Every time I hear this song, I relive the cinema scene in my head *chills down spine*.  Ok, perhaps I'm a little obsessed with Ninja Gaiden, but this is a perfect tune for the action - slow, sad music playing when Ryu finds out that his father is dead.  I also like the rising notes at the end - gives the piece a sense of hopefulness...hopefulness that you will need on your quest.

Act 3-1
- For the most part, this Act consists of you running around frantically, jumping to dodge a greyhound or bird, and running around some more.  So it's a no-brainer that this Act needs some fast-paced music.

Foster's Theme
- This song plays as Foster briefs you on your missions to come (before Act 4).  The mysterious beat to this piece helps add to the suspense that comes as Foster describes the Jaquio's operations.

Act 4-2
- Whoa.  Now this is, IMO, the best song there is on the NES.  Not second best.  Best.  I could be getting my levels mixed up, but I seem to remember 4-2 as the first level where I felt that I always had to be prepared; where I felt that an enemy was always nearby.  Hence the peppy music.

Act 5-3
- Although the music from Act 5-3 is not as widely known as that of 4-2, I still consider Act 5-3's score to be the second best in the game.  The repeating notes lend a sense of despair, something that I found frequently in this level.  For me, Level 5-3 consisted of getting past "the unbeatable enemy" only to find that there was a more unbeateable enemy right behind it.  I often threw down my controller and screamed "The game cheats!!!"  This music is perfect for the tough level.  If only they had put it on 6-2...

Well, there's Ninja Gaiden's score in a nutshell.  At some distant date I may add in a few more songs if I feel like it.
