The NES Scene
This morning I was playing Pirates! and having a lot of trouble finding my way around. Eventually, I came to the conclusion that the game must have had a map. So, I e-mailed jhd7 (owner of Grand NEStral Station, not to mention 770 NES games) to see if there was any way he could scan me a copy of it. Within 15 minutes, I received a response from him saying that he would do his best, but the writing on the map was quite small. Tonight, I received an e-mail from him giving me a web address where he had put up the scans. Talk about a nice person.
Imagine that in today's world. Somebody doing something just as a good deed, to help someone? You don't see it very often, unfortunately. But you can sure find it in the NES scene.
There was also the time where I made a huge faux pas in the e-mail I sent to blienk, owner of tha NES smackdown. He hadn't updated his site in a couple of months, and I was pissed at him because on his links page he bashes sites for not updating and then doesn't update himself. Well, the e-mail that I sent him "got my tone across." Soon after I sent it, I felt bad for insulting a respected member of the NES scene. Then, in a week or so, I found tha smackdown on disflux. I hastily wrote an e-mail to blienk saying that I was sorry for insulting him, that I didn't know he had moved. He wrote back the next day and said that not only was my apology accepted, but that it was his fault for not having a link from the old smackdown location to the new one! Geez, these people in the NES scene are perfect!
