Tuesday, 31 August 1999: Great news!! Months ago, my correspondent, Sheila Matthews, announced to me that The Sherlock Holmes Memorabilia Company of London (with assistance Miss Linda Pritchard, JB's good friend) were in the process of creating the study of the Granada series as an exhibit! Now the Memorabilia Company has open its doors to their new "A Tribute to Jeremy Brett"! Located in the upper level of the shoppe with an adorned with props from the set (ie: Mrs Hudson's tea-set, the fireplace, and the Reichenbach Falls portrait) and a gallery of photographs of Jeremy as Holmes and himself! This is just in time for the Unveiling of the Sherlock Holmes Statue in September! I don't know about you, but Baker Street is looking a LOT more tempting to visit now! Click here for more details.Rupert Books (the same publisher who brought us Miss Pritchard's "On Wings of Paradise: A Jeremy Brett-Linda Pritchard Story") has a upcoming book planned ot be issues on 01 December 1999. Written by the producer of the Granada series, Michael Cox, "A Study in Celluloid: A Producer's Account of Jeremy Brett as Sherlock Holmes". This book is not about ONLY about Jeremy's acting achievement. It is a tribute to the other actors around him and the contribution of writers, directors, designers, and the whole production team which supported them, and about the controversial process of adapting classic literary fiction from the page to the screen, etc, etc. For more information, consult Publicationa Brettiana or Rupert Books! Reserve your copy (because presently the the price is liable to change)! Also updated information in Memorabilia Brettiana and Publicationa Brettiana (now three pages). Check back on 12 September for more Sherlock Holmes... Enjoy!
Friday, 13 August 1999: Happy Birthday to two! Happy Birthday to two! Happy Birthday to Ted Hardwicke (67 on the 5th - Waston) and Charles Gray (71 on the 29th - Mycroft)! Hey-Hey, this little jiggle is for two! Now...In Pinacotheca Brettiana, new and rare pictures of "The Good Soldier" (1981) in Films & Television contributed by Violet of Australia, a few new ones in His True Self -- Jeremy Huggins, (Yes, the yellow sweats picture is there), which has now been divided into two pages due to the overquantity, and several gorgeous artworks in Artistry done by Rachael Patton and the editor, Diane N. Tran! As well as updated and added information in Memorabilia Brettiana and Publicationa Brettiana.Minor changes in Editor's Notes' Bibliographies and Special Thanks & Acknowledgements; also little updates in the Biography lists.
Saturday, 03 July 1999: Well, it has been roughly two months since the last update, Yahoo!Geocities have been having great problems, particular over legal clauses on Section 1, A, explaining that ALL the work done on Yahoo!Geocities belong to them and they could what they they will of it! Apparently, I am unparticularly unamused, however I have little choice but to remain at a disadvantage so... I do hope you enjoy this update. This month's update is mostly a pile of contributions from assortment of Brettians from across 5 nations! These contributors would be the following: Lorraine Saltre and John Bigelow also known as my "BostonBrettians", Louise of Sweden, Mia Stampe of Denmark, Charles Prepolec of Canada, Monica Schmidt and Sheila Matthews of the States, plus others like Lucy Ferrier, Violet of Australia, and DCS3 (the latter two are uncredited contributors to information in Memorabilia Brettiana).New pictures have been added in Pinacotheca Brettiana: Theatre, Films & Television (check carefully, you might miss the new My Fair Lady pictures in this one), His True Self -- Jeremy Huggins, Unexpected Vein of Pawky Humour ("Name's Brett...Jeremy Brett"), and Artistry. Great information has been furtherly added to Memorabilia Brettiana and Publicationa Brettiana!! A new sound file has been added to Phonotheca Sherlockiana in "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes" (special "Art Thou Troubled?" additionals). Minor changes are in Special Thanks & Acknowledgements, Bibliographies, and each page should have "Letters to JB" of browser listing below nearly every page. Also a revised address of the JBSF in Societia Brettiana, please feel free to join! Please note at on 12 September 1999, on the fourth anniversary of Jeremy Brett's passing, new Sherlock Holmes sections in Pinacotheca Brettiana should, in hopes, be added by that date. I'd also like to wish our dear benefactor of this "dedication", Midden, best of health and care, I hope you get well very soon. Thank yous and enjoy!
Wednesday, 26 May 1999: I would like to take the time to personally wish congratulations to the graduating students that visit this "dedication"! You have worked diligently for your education and you deserve a hip-hip for I also am graduating! "Education never ends, Watson. It is a series of lessons, with the greatest for the last...(REDC)" Many, many things have been added, upgrading, and/or revised! Among the major upgrading is in Pinacotheca Brettiana is Theatre, Films & Television, His True Self -- Jeremy Huggins, and Artistry.
A updated information in Memorabilia Brettiana and Publicationa Brettiana, plus a NEW Paraphernalia Brettiana de Exotica; this page compiled with Brettish memorabilia around the world; this page's main purpose was to make awares of Jeremy's international influence! In Editor's Notes, Bibliographies has a completely new setup! In Biography, further dating information in Performances as Sherlock Holmes have been added. Minor changes in the following: Small changes in Pinacotheca Brettiana in Unexpected Vein of Pawky Humour. In Editor's Notes, small notations in Copyrights & Disclaimers, Special Thanks & Acknowledgements, Webrings and A Confession: Why Jeremy Brett??. Also in
Phonotheca Brettiana: Miscellany. In Biography, Jeremy's carrer listings in Theatre, Films & Television, and Radio & Audio have slight notations. The setup of Good Old Index has a slight alteration, with more tidbits in Societia Brettiana, which lists a number to Brett-related clubs to join, and in "Sherlock Holmes Actor Film and Television List". Plus NEW candles have been added to In Memoriam..., burning in the memory of the late Mr Jeremy Brett.
Saturday, 15 May 1999: Another week until ACD's 140th birthday! In a early note to this, another edition to Unexpected Vein of Pawky Humour. Finally after several weeks to retouching, whiting out, text-formatting, image-formatting, etc., I have finally completed the Got milk? tribute-spoof for Jeremy and Teddy (as Holmes and Watson). The reason why this image took so long is the difficulty in placing a milk moustache on a real moustache for Teddy -- to make it realistic with aspects of shadow, highlights, and fluidness; Jeremy was much more simply, being clean-shaven. Yet in my personally critique, Teddy seem to have more likely eaten powdered donuts than white milk. Nevertheless, I believe the efforts were satsifying enough for me, particularly after 14 trails-and-errors. Also In Memoriam... has its timer lengthen and the Main Page's fonts have been slightly altered (for the purpose the the background on to be unsightly revealed below). Enjoy, soon more additions in photographs on the next update.
Wednesday, 10 March 1999: A few things NEW and a mountain of things are REVISED. Plus a long-awaited treat! A change in the quote for In Memoriam... to "Do not stand at my grave and cry. / I am not there, I did not die..."; poetic, is it not? From Good Old Index, Memorabilia Brettiana and Publicationa Brettiana has been filled with new data for the Brettish collector in all of us! Plus "Sherlock Holmes Actor Film and Television List" in this section also has been recently updated in data! In Biography, all list in this section have been minorly revised -- Theatre, Film & Television, and Radio & Audio. Plus an all NEW listings of Jeremy's Performances as Sherlock Holmes. In Editor's Notes, a NEW listing of Webrings in which the "dedication" has recently membershipped to -- Baker Street, The Insidious Ring of Moriarty, and The British Actors & Actresses Webrings. Bibilographies and Special Thanks & Acknowledgements have minor changes. As I know, it is long-awaited, ALL pictorial links in Pinacotheca Brettiana are OPERATIVE, thus all images are accessible. Each feature has been revised with NEW images -- Theatre, Films & Television, His True Self -- Jeremy Huggins, and Artistry!
Saturday, 27 Feburary 1999: My most humble apologies, my dear Brettians, for the great delay between updates, but I have been pressed with personal events (ie: My cousin's grandmother stuffed a severe stoke). But finally an update of great importance! From Good Old Index, Memorabilia Brettiana and Publicationa Brettiana have been greatly upgraded with new information for the Brettish collector in all of us! These two informative section contain SO MUCH data, it could not fit into one page anymore. It is now divided into two pages, this does cut down on downloading time as well! Though other images in Pinacotheca Brettiana are UNOPERATIVE, in Pinacotheca Sherlockiana, Artistry section has been upgraded with artwork by Leisl Adams (aka: Chibi Spanky) and your own editor, Diane Tran...and these pictures (ONLY in this section) are accessible. I hope to make the others accessible as well... Thank you for your patience...
Wednesday, 06 January 1999: According to most Holmesian scholars, my dear Sherlock Holmes, this is 145th Birthday. Though through the science of astrology (both Western and Eastern), I can argue that 06 January 1954 is not your birthdate, but I shan't be so fickle about "The Game" to-day! So happy birthday to you, my dear Sherlock! Well, since the last update, I have gone through the "Dedication" correcting my grammaric and spelling errors, adding new data, and a new easier-to-browse-through directory. Pinacotheca Brettiana sections, Biography sections, Editor's Notes sections, and Phonotheca Brettiana: Miscellany has tiny revisions to its information. Note Pinacotheca Brettiana is still UNOPERATIVE! However in celebration to SH's day, Phonotheca Sherlockiana introduction is added with "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes" section. There inserts 22 WAV audios from Granada's "SH" pilot, "A Scandal in Bohemia". (Apparently, the site where I place the WAVs have been filled to the brim!) Enjoy!
Thursday, 24 December, 1998: My compliments of the season! Though, things are not particularly well with me, nonetheless I am slowly, slowly re-piecing it back. For those contributors of B.I.N.K.S., I thank very much for your support. Perhaps you will be pleased to hear that Young Sarah is going through further treatment and doctors have very high hopes that her Hodgkins' disease shall be vanquished entirely from her system. Smile, my dear Brettians, she's found a cure to her cancer...and you helped. The "Dedication" has moved! This a much larger site -- which means more memory, more things -- plus no more of those annoying pop-up ads! HUZZAH! Now a great many things have been added to the "dedication". One is a new In Memoriam... plaque with Macbeth's "Out, out bright candle..." (words also uttered by him in 1981). Pinacotheca Brettiana has been updated with new sections and photographs. Theatre and His True Self -- Jeremy Huggins are upgraded with a few new photographs. A newly added pictorial section of Film & Television career roles. Also a Pinacotheca Sherlockiana Introduction provides a special link to Artistry section -- a artistic showmanship of Jeremy Brett art created by his fans, including art by Barbara Gipson, Tom Rieschick, Jen Starling, Eric Lee Shackleford, and (your own editor) Diane Tran! The editor recommends patience for the downloading of the images -- it is rather slow, but note that the pictoral links are UNOPERATIVE at the present moment -- they shall return ASAP. Phonotheca Brettiana's My Fair Lady has two new audios! The newly added Biography has lists of Jeremy's full career in three sections -- Theatre, Film & Television, and Radio & Audio. Good Old Index, formerly entitled Miscellenea Brettiana, provides up-to-date information for Brettish study. I found that the title, Miscellenea Brettiana, is much too broad and unattractively named, thus I selected a name after Holmes' collection of quick references. Memorabilia Brettiana is updated, joining it is a new Publicationa Brettiana -- a list of Brett-related books; plus Societia Brettiana which lists a number to Brett-related clubs to join -- and special "Sherlock Holmes Actor Film and Television List", complied by your editor, for Sherlockian study and expansion. Formerly used only from my personal use, I feel the listing is some important to Sherlockian scholars or scholars-to-be. In Editor's Notes, a summary of why and how the "dedication" came-to-be in Notes Upon This "Dedication" I wish to commendation to those wonderful individuals who assisted me in making the "dedication" to best it can be in Special Thanks & Acknowledgements. If one notices in Pinacotheca Brettiana, I have specially intergrated hidden text under particular image-links. One places one's mouse-pointer upon the image-link and a box of text addressing the contributor of the photograph(s).
Tuesday, 03 November 1998: My my, what day is this?! Happy Birthday, Jeremy!!!! How old (or young) would you be, now? Ah, 65!! In celebration of Jeremy's 65th day of birth, the editor presents a new My Fair Lady sounds. Though Jeremy had a very minor role in the musical (and never used his true voice), it is -- amazingly -- one of Brettian's most beloved non-Sherlockian roles. I had a great deal of problems trying to download the full score of "On the Street Where You Live" (which was 3.9 Meg) for the "dedication," sadly the ordeal was unsuccessful -- Freddie shall not sing to-day, pooh! Yet nonetheless, I wish him a wonderful birthday (wherever he may be)!
Wednesday, 14 October 1998: The newest issue of The Sherlockian Times -- a beautiful catalogue by Classic Specialties -- just came through the post. To kept the information "as is", a small alteration in Memorabilia Brettiana for the Sherlock Holmes Holiday Greeting Cards (just in time for the season) became half-priced! The exquisite artwork is by Ms Barbara Gipson personally commissioned by Classic Specialties for your pleasure. I hope to update this section further...
Sunday, 04 October 1998: Oh dear, I am running out of memory in the "dedication"! I press my bottom lip down, squeezing a little more each time, hoping it will hold. Nevertheless, the "dedication" shall continue as long as I can uphold it! A new section in Pinacotheca Brettiana has emerged, revealing His True Self - Jeremy Huggins. These images express so much for "Pictures often say things louder than words," yet are particularly rare to obtain. Do Enjoy!
Wednesday, 23 September 1998: As promised to one of my correspondents, I have taken a "breathier" in better my health, though the minor stress still lingers. The Miscellenea Brettiana Introduction is finally linked -- had a bit of difficulty in the wording the entry to my approval -- with a special Memorabilia Brettiana. Memorabilia Brettiana is a graphic listing of all Brettish-related products available to the public (all according to my knowledge. If there are any that are not noted wire me). I admit it will load rather slowly due to its "visual" nature, but I hope it shall be well worth the wait. More shall enter soon...
Tuesday, 15 September 1998: I have been so remarkably electrified last weekend! The "dedication" hit 100 (then furthered to 130) viewers on the counter on 12 September; the "dedication" is a success (though B.I.N.K.S. is another manner). I promised a correspondent of mine (who has been concerned with my health for weeks) that I would take "a breathier" after 12 September, and with a few annoyed groans I did as I promised. I fell victim to a minor fender-bender with my companion, which resorted to a repose at a Barnes & Noble bookstore. Among the "bargain books" rack was Dracula: The Ultimate, Illustrated Edition of the World-Famous Vampire Play, edited and annotated by David J. Skal. My mind curious, recollected that Jeremy portrayed the Dark Prince before in the Edward Gorey, who does the animated introduction to MYSTERY!, revival between 1978 and 1979, breaking box-office. Yes, those facts did race through my mind for Jeremy's Dracula was a role I always wanted to see! My curiosity overtook me; I skimmed through the scripts and images, and deduce whom I found on page 140?? "Jeremy Brett, before his television success as Sherlock Holmes, made a credible Broadway Count." Though I was a little offended with the term "credible" for someone who broke the box-office, there printed is a sumptuous photo of Jeremy in bat-collared cape! Snatching a cleaner bonded copy, I ran to line to purchase it for $3.98. Therefore I present a new Dracula Theatre image in Pinacotheca Brettiana! The two scripts (1923 and 1927; this Dracula used the 1927 script) are wonderful for anyone wishing read one of Jeremy's theatre productions.
Saturday, 12 September 1998: Shall I shed tears to-day?? Forgive me if I do... The "dedication" is NOW official to the Brettish public upon the Third Anniversary of his death. I think he may have smiled upon me to-day (as he did with us all), why do I say that? I have been suffering from technological problems with my browser for weeks (before the "dedication" was published). My browser would not respond in creation or upgrading of the "dedication" with the use my home-computer; it constantly froze (though my "dispatch-box" performed perfectly). I was advised to update the browser, yet it froze before I ever could. I tried again to-day at 6.00AM, simply hoping, and it works! Logically it creates no sense to me; spiritually it does (so as I peer up, I say, "Thank you!")... Though I do not know how long it shall last, I shall make the best of it! In Editor's Notes, A Confession: Why Jeremy Brett?? tells my story of Jeremy's influence upon me -- a warning, it is not for the weak-hearted! I raise my glass to announce, "To Jeremy, a toast to the best there ever was!"
Friday, 11 September 1998: I have resorted to library computers in order to update the "dedication." I am please to say that Pinacotheca Brettiana with Jeremy's Theatre images are operational. To add, Phonotheca Brettiana has started with Miscellany WAVs. In order to save space, nine are directly linked to the Carrie Pratt's Jeremy Brett WebSite from Puss in Boots (1954?), Marigold (1957), Johnny the Priest (1960), and "The Merry Widow" (1968). Nevertheless, twelve NEW audio clippings, from "Rebecca" (1978), "On Approval" (1980), "The Good Solider" (1981), and a JB interview from 1992, are accessable. Enjoy!
Wednesday, 09 September 1998: To dearest Jeremy, the best of love! 'Tis the day the "dedication" first planted its stems in the soil, HURRAH! Yet I did not place it in full attention on this date (that was for 12 September). I felt that I needed opinions from a selected group of Brettians; hence I chose the wondrous individuals of the A&E Mysteries.com MessageBoard who also expressed their opinions and thoughts to my dilemmas in finance for the "dedication." I often I fondly refer to this site as "The Agony Column," and I wish to thank those individuals profoundly in their advice for it has made decision much easier. Only the "dedication"s Introduction, Editor's Notes, Bibliographies, Copyrights & Disclaimers, and the Pinacotheca Brettiana Introduction pages are active. Do be patient, I am experiencing browser difficulties; I hope to add more Friday to prepare for the 12th!
