On February 15, 1999 a person named Patti visited our website and signed our guestbook. After reading her message I went to her family's webpage, and then I signed their guestbook. We received another message from her, and before long we were e-mailing each other back and forth. I began calling her my "Cyber Buddy".
In 1990 I had experienced a mini-stroke, which left me with comprehension and concentration problems making it hard for me to learn new things. I was trying to master the art of creating webpages and was really struggling, and if it wasn't for Patti's help and encouragement I never would have succeeded.
Whenever I had a question she was there to help me out, and if she didn't have an answer to my question she would go and find the answer. We began conversing via AOL's Instant Message, and then she introduced me to ICQ. (I'm still not too comfortable with that mode of conversation, but I LOVE the sound effects!)
Patti has taught me so many things, and we have learned that you can meet and make great friends over the internet! She has now been elevated to the position of "Cyber Angel" for all that she's done for me, and I will always be grateful for her help and for sharing her knowledge with me.
We now send each other funny jokes and messages by e-mail daily, but the real enjoyment comes when we "talk" on AOL's Instant Messages. It has become a daily routine to check to see if Patti's on-line, and if she is it always brightens up my day.
Through our conversations we've learned not only about Patti, but also about her husband Lance, children Demian and Jessalyn, sister-in-law Kim, and Patti's mom. Someday maybe we'll be able to meet them in person.
