EXPLANATION OF WRITTEN ASSIGNMENTS REFLECTIONS OF PAST TEACHERS: Most people pursuing a career in education have been influenced by teachers they have had. You are to write a paper discussing the impact those teachers have had on your decision to become a teacher. Sometimes you may make that choice in spite of a teacher; you want to do it the right way. Minimum of three pages EDUC 1301; TECA 1303 ONLY PROFESSIONAL GROWTH PLAN: professional educators are usually required by their districts to write a professional growth plan. Each district has it's own format for the plan In this plan, a teacher outlines her goals and objectives for the coming school year. This usually is made with student progress considered. For the purposes of this class, you are to write in terms of what your goals are for yourself. I want you to look in to your future five years from now; where do you want to be at that time. With that long-term goal in mind, state your goals for this semester, a year from now and five years from now. A form is provided on this web site. ALL CLASSES PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION: What are your ideas about the role of education in society and your place in that environment as the teacher. A sample philosophy is provided on this web site. Most philsophies are about half a page. ALL CLASSES LESSON PLAN: Choose a topic you would like to teach. Using the Hunter Model, design a lesson plan for grade level you want to teach. ALL CLASSES CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT PLAN: Design a classroom management plan using the format provided on this webpage. ALL CLASSES SELF EVALUATION: This is an end-of-the-course reflection of the work and effort you put into the course. ALL CLASSES END-OF-COURSE EVALUATION: This is a reflection of the course and its value to you in your endeavor of becoming an effective teacher. ALL CLASSES PORTFOLIO: You will be required to maintain a portfolio consisting of work completed in this course. ALL CLASSES LAB ASSIGNMENTS: You will be required to complete ten original research papers. EDUC 1303 AND TECA1301 INTERNSHIP: An internship is required to received a grade in this course. You will have to complete sixteen prompts, one each for every hour of observation. The final prompt is a reflective summation of your experience. ALL CLASSES CAMPUS PLAN: The Campus Plan is a plan for the school year that each campus develops to support the district plan. the activity requires that three sections of the plan be written as a group. Individuals will write plans for their classes. EDUC 1301 AND TECA 1303 PARENT INVOLVEMENT PLAN This is a plan to get ALL parents involved to the minimum extent of their child's education process. A PIP is a component of most special programs e.g. Title, ESL, special education. You are to prepare a plan with several involvement opportunities for the parents in your school and in your classroom. ALL CLASSES EDUC 1301; TECA1303; TECA1311 LEARNING STYLES INVENTORY You are to complete two inventories. Print out the results and any information that goes with it e.g. explanations of your results. After reviewing this information, write a brief summary and analysis of the results. Include your reactions and opnion as to whether the results reflect what you thought you already know about yourself. TECHNOLOGY (USE) PLAN Assume that you have 4-5 computers (with appropriate application programs) in your classroom in addtion to the usual TV, VCR, overheads, etc. Write a plan for your classroom outlining how that equipment will be used. This would include the kinds of assignments to be done with the equipment and a policy for student use. There are examples on the Internet that can give you some ideas. Search campus technology plan or technology plan on the Internet for ideas. |
