for some reason i'm on a big travis kick right now.  i've been listening to both the man who and the invisible band a lot since i've gotten back from northern ireland.  the songs writing to reach you, as you are, sing, side, pipe dreams, follow the light, last train, afterglow, and the first hidden track at the end of the invisable band have appealed to me the most.  its too bad i don't have their first album good feeling although i've heard its really different from their latter two albums.  talking about travis also reminds me that i heard the new song they put on some movie soundtrack in a store in richmond.  it sounded pretty good.

last night i laid in the grass outside the library and listened to death cab for cutie: you can play these songs with chords while watching the airplanes fly over my head and turn off their landing lights as they had just taken off from heathrow.  i hadn't listened to the album in something like two weeks, which is pretty good for me because i had been listening to it a lot earlier on this semester.  but i should still not listen to it for a while or else i'm going to get really sick of it later on and just not want to listen to it atoll.  i wonder if ben gibbard's new project postal service is anything like the songs charming man, tv trays, or tomorrow off of death cab's latest album.  if so then i'd probably like it.  if not then i still might like it.  i guess i'd have to hear it to really judge, but i think it'll go on the list of (real) cds i'd like to get anyway.

a month or so ago i said that supergrass: life on other planets was rubbish... i was wrong.  last night i gave it another try but this time not expecting anything good at all and it turned out to be pretty decent.  i guess it just really depends on what type of a mood your in.  rolling stone categorizes supergrass as 'a cutting edge, pop-punk brit band'... article.  if you want to hear the one of their catchy tracks check out za or seen the lightevening of the day is also a good song.

its another great day, sunny and in the mid 50's.  i've spent the last three nights out with aidan, steve, and fiona... mike and ian a few times also among others.  i've also done more work in this week than i have this entire semester, reading for a class or two and getting info for my paper on 'underdevelopment in the third world' which is due a week from today, when i get back from belfast.

yesterday i went to
kew gardens in kew with a few geography students.  it is said to be one of the world's premier botanic garden thingies... yea anyway, it was pretty cool and pleasent to thee ole eyes.
