My Spiritual Journey
My Spiritual Journey has taken me years to even begin.  It has really been in the past year , that I have begun to realize that I need to understand my spiritual side , and hopefully find my own spiritual awakening.  I have begun to accept my own human mortality and acknowledged my need for some sort of 'cosmic' guidance in my life.

I never want to look back at my life and not feel complete satisfaction with the outcome.  I want to be able to say that I lived a good life, and that I was the best possible human bieng that I could of been.  To know who I am , and to live my life to the fullest possible extent, is my personal goal.

Thus, my quest for Spirituality.

I am a planner.  I always have been and I shall be.  I took a look at the start of my journey, and decided that I need to make my own "
Step" program ( one similar to those used at AA).  I have not yet figured out all the steps to this "plan", and maybe as I near the path of my spiritual guidance, I shall find that there are no steps, but for now, this is the route that I am taking.  These are my conceptual Steps to ready me for my Journey

STEP ONE - ADMITTING THE HIGHER POWER

The first step in my journey was to find my Higher Power, and admitt that I am powerless without him.  In my case, my Higher Power is God.  I have done alot of research on Spirituality, and the one thing that almost every Spiritual sector believes in is some form of Higher Power.  After all, we ourselves, live in a chain of nature.  It makes perfect sense that there is someone or something mighter, and stronger than we.  This, however, is a personal choice.  Each of us must decide for ourselves, what to believe in, and what to disregard.

STEP TWO - ACCEPTING ONE'S SELF

My second step was to accept myself as I am.  For if you can not love yourself, how can you love others.  We have all heard that saying before, and it rings so true.  Hatred can not bred love, for only love can produce love.
Accepting one's self, means that you have to accept the good and bad.  No one is perfect.  I do not care how beautiful someone is on the outside, how artistic they are, how well - spoken, how much money they have.  When all comes down to Spirituality, none of that matters.  It is who you are in the inside, your personality, your thoughts, your wisdoms and your actions that matter.  Learn to accept that we are not perfect biengs, and there shall always be room for change in our own lives.  We just have to accept ourselves for who we are.  After all, you are the one who must live with yourself.

STEP THREE - FORGIVE

Forgiveness is one of the most important steps in gaining Spiritual enlightenment. For if we harbour hurt and hardness in our hearts, love can not fully enter.  Why can it not fully enter?  To love is state of pureness.  In order to love with a purity and strength, we must open our hearts or souls completely.  We can not do that if there are ill feelings and old hurts still lingering inside us.  We are humans.  We ( well, most of us , anyway ) do not like pain.  We run from it.  If we hold the hurt of past experiences in our heart, then we shall be afraid of experiencing hurt once more.  Once we learn to forgive those that have mistreated us, or shown some sort of wrong towards us, we can open our hearts to the aspect and healing power of love.

STEP FOUR -RE - EVALUATE

This means to simply re - think your whole self.  Determining those things that are the most imporant to you.  We are people in a world that is so focused on the material aspects of life.  Yet, none of that matters when we die.  We do not take any of that with us, to wherever we are going.  Learning to put importance on those things that really matter, is a very important step.
For me, I have placed importance on substance and love.  This is something that each of us must determine for ourselves.  No one but you can really conceive what it important and what is not.

STEP FIVE - RE - ADJUST

Re - Adjusting your life to reflect you new thought system and personal importance scale , is not as easily done as said.  I am still struggling with this step.  I think that we all have to step back and take a look at what is our driving force.  Changing our outlook from that of personal gain to that of spiritual gain is not easy.  I find that I am often questioning myself.  "Am I doing this for personal gain or Spiritual gain?"  That is the question that we must ask.

STEP SIX - LISTENING TO YOUR SPIRIT

This is where I am currently on my journey.  I am learing to listen to my inner spirit.  I believe that our spirit will never lie to us.  For it is built from the same grains as truth and love.  Learning to take heed to that 'little voice", deep inside us, is hard.  When ever you experience that "gut instinct", that is your spirit trying to guide you.  That is your spirit trying to show you what is wrong and what is right.  It is up to us to listen.  You have to be willing to allow your spirit to guide you, and mostly , you have to be willing to perhaps make a desicion that is not benefical to your worldly gain.

I want to stress that these are all my own thoughts and beliefs and that I am not trying to impose my thought systems on anyone.  I am only sharing my journey so that maybe others can start thier own journey.  This page will be updated as my journey progresses

Good Luck, and may your spirit guide you!!!!
