I was born in Lettomanoppello in 1961 in a house on via Chiusa.  My father and mother, Luigi and Giuseppina D'ALFONSO (soprannome Pannarolo) owned that house; they sold it in 1990.  We lived in Milan for a while before the family emigrated to the US.  My wife Marisa is from Orsogna.

I went back to Italy in 1980; I was there for about three years, and I was in the Italian army for1 year.  I was in the Alpini military at L'Aquila.  I know Abbruzzo like the back of my hand - when we had our 23-day winter camp in the army, we were at the Blauk Haus for four days.  We walked and climbed mountain after mountain all the way from L'Aquila.  And during our summer camp, we walked and climbed to the Gran Sasso mountains.
