...still more Washington and Oregon Coast
Still on the trail to Cape Lookout.  I caught a glimpse of Cape Meares across the bay to the north, the direction from which I've come.
Just about at the end of the trail I am lucky enough to spot at least one whale in the waters below.  Of course, you can't see it in this picture but the view south from the trail is spectacular.
Peaceful, isolated beach at Cape Kiwanda, south of Cape Lookout.
I hiked in to see a Giant in the old growth forest in Cape Perpetua Scenic Area.  The tree was 225 feet tall before losing 35 feet in 1962. It is thought to be 500 years old.  I would have guessed much older.  That little thing on the right "leg" of the great tree is my day-pack. Being with such a marvelous old fella, a creation of nature, is a spiritual moment.
I decided to go inland to catch a peek at famous Crater Lake in Crater Lake National Park, Oregon. The depth of snow, straight up the sides of the road, impressed even a northern Canadian prairie boy on May 17th!  The road in to Crater Lake from the North was still closed.  This is the cleared south access road.
