Some great hiking in Yosemite National Park, California

Yosemite National Park is about 3 hours directly west of San Francisco, California in the United States.  Being Canadian I judge mountains by the standard of the Canadian Rockies in Banff, Jasper and Lake Louise.  Yosemite is as incredible as our beautiful Canadian Rockies and the hiking and backpacking possibilities are extensive.  There are over 700 miles of backpacking trails.  I know that I could spend several years in Yosemite as I have done in our Rockies.  It is pleasant to anticipate returning.

What father could resist a picture of a beloved daughter under a rainbow. This is my second  daughter, Michelle at the base of Bridal Veil Falls in Yosemite Valley.  You can get really soaked walking up beside the falls. We went in to Yosemite on a day trip so that Michelle could show me around in anticipation of my doing some packing on my own.

I hiked in to Little Yosemite Valley beginning at Glacier Point.  Early along the trail is this burned area.  The leftovers of a fire in the 60's which destroyed the lodge at Glacier Point. The lodge was not rebuilt.  The trail descends for a couple of miles.  Nice going down,  a grunt on the return journey.

And this is of the bridge. A very pleasant hike.  It is always nice to be walking mostly downhill.
