Michelle and I did another day trip between my solo packing trips.  This is McGork Meadow a peaceful destination about 2 miles in from the paved road up to Glacier Point.  Another two miles further up this trail is Dewey Point from which the views are of the "take my breath away" calibre.  We didn't know that yet and hadn't intended to hike to Dewey Point when we started out. Later, we were ecstatic about the views and delighted that we had decided to go on.
We began ring counting on this beauty.  Quit at about 200 and estimated the trees age at 500 years.  Makes one stop and think about the fleeting existence we have relative to this giant.  And he wasn't even a huge one.
The views are truly awesome.  They make you want to talk quietly and reverently or just say nothing but look and sigh and fill your senses with the beauty.
A sentinel.
