2008 Highlighits for Susan's family:
- Rod's health continues to improve - activity level increases and meds decrease. Rod's wheelchairs remained parked in the garage for the entire year!! The doctors and specialists are amazed and since there is no explanation for the improvement we say it is a God thing - a miracle!
- Susan started work in April as Executive Director/Program Coordinator at a local Non profit community development agency in our home town Olds, Alberta.
- Rod is managing the house - groceries, cooking, laundry, finances, getting the girls to lessons...
- Our family went to Macau (to see Tobia's family) and travelled with both families to Taiwan for the month of August. It was great to see Sherry in Hong Kong and Sharon and Terry in Taichung. We missed seeing Keith but talked briefly on the phone.
- anika (14) started homeschooling with Rod this fall and there is no regrets for this experience so far. Joya (11) enjoys grade 6 at the local school.
- We have a Japanese grade 11 girl (Aika) living with us for the year and we are having a great time with her.
- Shaggy, our faithful 15 year old Newfy/Lab went to Dog Heaven before the winter came and we got two golden retriver puppies.
- Rod finished his PhD and we all travelled to Penn State to see him graduate on 20 Dec. It was good to see friends there that we had not seen since we left in 1997.
- We are spending Christmas in Kitchener Ontario with Monica and her husband - Alain. (Monica was married to Johnny for one year before he died in Sept.)
- We fly back to Calgary, Alberta on Dec. 25 and will spend the remainder of the Christmas holiday with Rod's family and hopefully take Aika skiing. (Rod is not on Skis yet...but who knows).
We are not sure what 2009 will bring but we are walking on sunshine...not on eggshells anymore!!
Wishing you all the best that life has to offer!!
Susan
