2008 is the 150th Anniversary of Denver, Colorado & of our Trinity United Methodist Church! As a family we celebrated my birthday with a trip to Aspen for our annual Colorado Symphony Chorus Concert closing the Aspen Music Festival with the premier of Schoenberg's GURRE-LIEDER. Here in Denver, we also rejoiced with Karen's daughter, Hillary, 12, in her selection for the Tour Choir of the Colorado Children's Chorale. Karen cares for 3 foster children & works for an IT company. We celebrated Alisa's new position as Executive Director of the Colorado Dragon Boat Festival. Her daughter, Mimi, 5, and Hillary attend Stargate Charter School. In Kensington, MD., Deborah teaches ESL classes, Jim is with the State Department's Iraqi Desk, while Abigail, 7, enjoys school, Kung Fu, & children's church choir.
Our Chicago Connection is Cynthia who gave us reason to cheer when she began working as Administrative Assistant for Developement, Midwest Region of the Foundation to Prevent Blindness. Also memorable were flights East for a family wedding, 61st high school Reunion, Penna. relatives' annual luncheon & a visit to the spacious new addition at Deborah & Jim's lovely Kensington home.
Here in Colorado, Hillary participates in various swim meets & we drove to Kansas where she did well in the competition. I enjoy meeting Mimi after school, or Hillary after swim practice, when we go out for supper and I care for them until their Mothers return from evening meetings.
As head of our Garden & Grounds Committee here at the Villas at Sunny Acres Retirement Community, I spend many hours in maintaining our gardens... Our CSO chorus will celebrate our 25th year in 2009 with a tour of Budapest, Vienna & Prague, June 29 - July 7, singing the Verdi REQUIEM... Our third reunion of Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia & Myanmar Missionaries will occur June 26-28 in Nashville, TN... So the New Year will be a "noteworthy" one. I trust that you will find peace & love as you enter into this Christmas time and may you be blessed in the New Year.
