Unit 6: Basketball Skills Grades: 1 & 2 LESSON(S): ~Introduction to James Naismith ~Basic Rules of Basketball ~Complex movement skills, locomotor movement, heavy and light movements AIM: ~Develop fundamental and complex movement skills ~Follow rules while participating in physical activity ~Demonstrate a limited understanding of the game of basketball GAMES: "Dribble Tag", "Knock Out", "Dribble Mania", "Horse", "Lion in a cage" SKILLS PRACTICED: Catching, Throwing, Sliding, Teamwork, Contrast between slow and fast movement, Traveling in front of and behind using locomotor skills, Stepping, Heavy and light movements |
Week 9: October 8-12th Unit Six will cover a 3 week period as we prepare for PeeWee Basketball Games. More information will follow. |
