They were escorted into a hallway that led off to the left. Rykasha took the lead position and strode forward. Only a few feet into the hallway, a pit opened up underneath her feet and she narrowly escaped the fall by grabbing onto the ledge. Killian helped her up and they continued a bit more cautiously.
In the first room they came upon, they found four sleeping goblins whose room was a complete and total disaster of littered food and garbage debris. They were able to quietly move their way past the goblins without waking them. In the next room they saw guards patrolling a room filled with haze. Not wanting to be attacked on both sides, our heroes deliberated a few moments, and finally chose to slay the goblins while they were sleeping. Killian then took Alton and Tai into the hallway to take out the goblins that were patrolling the adjoining room. Rykasha chose to remain behind and keep watch after Meepo.
Unfortunately, the guards didn’t die quietly, and while Tai, Alton and Killian had their hands full, Rykasha was dealing with Meepo who had begun to mutilate one of the slain goblin bodies in his bed. Once our heroes were able to get the situation under control, they heard sounds of people scrambling towards this room from their left. They chose to hide in a hallway and wait for the noises to die down. As they were standing still, they heard a loud booming voice who seemed to quiet down the hysteria and organized the people into a search party. Our heroes knew that they didn’t have much time left until they were found, so they continued down the hall and listed to a door that lead to the common rooms where they heard sounds of cooking and talking. Bypassing that room, they peeked in another door that went right into the hall of the goblin king. Alton then shot one of his thunder arrows into the common rooms, causing a great disturbance. Our heroes waited a few moments for the sounds of people leaving the goblin king’s room and then they entered there.
Surprised by the intrusion, the king was still seated on his throne when Alton loosed his last thunder arrow at the cleric sitting beside the king. One of the king’s aides made an impossible looking maneuver that deflected the arrow harmlessly against the wall (or so he thought). The sonic boom encompassed the far side of the room and our heroes fought viciously against the king and his aides. Killian pulled out his magical flute, a gift from Sheehan, and played a magical tune that invigorated his companions. Alton braved the melee with his mace and plowed through the enemies alongside Tai who leapt across the pit in the center of the room while felling foes with her bloodied war fans. Rykasha left a wake of destruction and bodies behind her while she single handedly took on the king and his trusted guard.
The fight was not an easy one, and Rykasha was knocked unconscious by the enemies, but her companions were able to thwart the goblin king and his aides. Tai now stands over the king’s nearly unconscious body with a choice upon her to either kill him now and run, or risk more foes entering the room while they try to question him…
