Who IS this guy?
Whitee's just some dude who started writing lyrics as a joke while
working at a college radio station just like yours. He made tapes for
friends using rap instrumentals the station had. When Whitee got a real
job he decided to record his songs using his own music. He hooked up
with Robert Blackburn at Black Dog Studio in Rochester, New York and
Whitee's first release, Pack The Lamb, was the result. Then in 2002 he released his second CD, Sapphic Delight.
Couldn't you guys think a name better than "Whitee"?
Well, it started out as a dumb joke among friends. It just ended up sticking.
Couldn't Whitee just use his real name?
Dude's doing songs like Stumpy The Ho, Lesbian Soup, and Socialist Love Slide...would
you? Seriously, we all have day jobs that wouldn't look too kindly on
this little side project. To us, it's not a big deal, but most wouldn't
get it and without the day jobs we couldn't do this, at least not the
way we want to.
Is Whitee another Wannabe White Rapper (WWR)?
Absolutely not. After listening to Sapphic Delight you will realize
Whitee does not need: bitches, peeps, hoes, ice, 40's, a Benz, a glock
or herb. He has no delusions of stealing your honey, busting a cap in
your ass, rollin' thru Compton or bumpin with the bizzos. And Whitee is about ready to work on release number three and it will not be rap.
If Whitee's not a WWR, then what the hell is he doing?
Hip-hop is the vehicle that, until this point, relayed Whitee's messages the best. Songs like I Give Up and The Reporter wouldn't work as power ballads or country songs.
Do you guys really think this music is good?
Well, it's not Mozart and Whitee doesn't have the breasts to pull off
that Britney Spears crap, but Whitee's music has tremendous presence,
insight and wit. Yeah, we think it's good and it has more soul than
what's spewed out by huge music corporations.
Do you expect me to think this music is good?
It's not U2...You wanna hate it, I know you do, but you won't. You're going to have Jesus Just Wants To Dance, Tin Of Love and Trials & Tribulations
in your head for a long time, in a good way. Not in the way I have
Right Said Fred's "I'm Too Sexy" stuck in mine all the time.
With songs like Sexmom, Suck Off The Pope and Lesbian Lover, isn't is difficult to get radio airplay?
Hell yeah! It's highly unlikely that Whitee's music will ever be played
on commercial radio given the bland crap corporate airwaves spew. Even
a lot of college stations use Radio & Records (R&R) as their
bible. While that's incomprehensible to us, that's reality. So we look
for college and internet radio stations who REALLY play different music.
Will Whitee ever play live shows?
Back in '91, when he first started writing songs, performing in front
of a crowd wasn't a thought. Now...it's a thought. It may happen. Keep
checking the web site for updates. (Yes, that was a shameless plug)
