Big Brother 2: Las Vegas Episode #2

THE BEGINNING:

This first eviction was finished and in the books. The whole house was feeling good about that, but awful that already their numbers were dwindling. Voting out Justin was not tremendously difficult for anyone as he had not made an effort to get to know anyone else in the house. In fact, it felt like he wasn't there at all. Tiffany had apologized for her lack of activity and was already making good on her promise to be more available.
Everyone in the house was getting comfortable. Leo was always singing. Ian could make everyone laugh with his dry wit. Matt's friendliness had made him a favorite of everyone's. Jeremy was his own biggest fan, appreciating the one way mirrors throughout the house. Joshua was the stabling element in the house, remaining calm through everything. Liz was the little sister that everyone instinctively wanted to protect. Grace was just like her name and brought a quiet grace to the house. Diana was a spunky little spitfire. Tiffany was sweet and gracious. Kimberley had charm and a sense of humor that was disarming. Lisa was the house mother, looking after everyone.
It soon became apparent some of these people were not getting along. Jeremy and Lisa had locked horns a few times about mostly trivial things, but it was beginning to look like that rift may divide the house. Cooler heads prevailed, however, and things calmed down. Most of the other houseguests refused to take sides and just let the feud extinguish itself.

THE CHALLENGES

The houseguests were excited to start the next set of challenges. The reward challenge was set for that day and everyone was waiting anxiously for word of what it would be. In the late afternoon Joshua was called into the Confessional Room and asked to bring the box inside to the living room. The Reward Challenge had begun.
The television screen popped on and on the screen was their host, Josh.
"If you watched the first Big Brother in this series then you are familiar with this challenge. It's the grocery shopping challenge. In that box you will find ten envelops, please take one each. When I tell you to...WHEN I TELL YOU TO, JEREMY.....open your envelop. Inside you will find letters that when put together will spell out the name of a vegetable. Once you have "unscrambled" your vegetable go to the box on the table and find a catalog for your veggie. The catalogs are very large, but each page has an ad for your vegetable. Your job is to find the lowest priced ad, in the shortest amount of time. Once you have found an ad you are happy with please go into the Confessional Room and tell us the vegetable you have and the page number of the ad you have choosen. We know the lowest price in each catalog Please remember that your time will also be part of your score. You have to decide whether to waste time searching for the lowest price, or to just pick an ad and go for a good time score. The person that is closest to the lowest price in their catalog and had the best time doing it will be declared the winner. Please open your envelops now!"
The houseguests got to work putting together their letters. One by one they grabbed for the catalogs to find their vegetable. They worked diligently, Kim was quick to get to the Confessional Room, but had she found the lowest price? Matt was having a terrible time finding a decent price until Jeremy stepped in and offered to help him look. Matt's time had suffered, but they found an incredibly low price. Once everyone had submitted their ads Josh returned to the screen.
"Congratulations to Kimberley! You found the cheapest ad and had an excellent time doing so. You are the winner of this week's reward challenge. Your reward is a simple one. Whoever gets the HoH postition cannot nominate you. You are guaranteed passage into the next round. Kimberley, consider yourself immune."
Kim was pleased with her win and everyone seemed genuinely happy that she had won

The question now was who would be the Head of Household, the person doing the nominating. The guests waited the next day by putting on their own karaoke show, hosted by Leo. Everyone got involved. They weren't the most talented bunch but at least it passed the time.
Everyone was called into the house and told to shut the curtains. The backyard was going to be set up for the HoH Challenge. It wasn't long before the voice of Big Brother told them to make their way outside, the challenge was set to begin. When they got outside they were greeted by a large wall that prevented them from seeing part of the yard. Josh appeared on the big screen in the middle of the yard.
"Welcome to your second Head of Household competition. You will notice that wall over there keeping you from seeing what's behind it. Please go over now and see.
The houseguests rushed for the wall and were surprised to see a wide table behind it. The table was divided into 10 lanes, almost like small bowling lanes. Diana was not allowed to participate as she had won the last HoH challenge. Each lane was assigned a name of one of the houseguests. At the end of each lane was a rectangular hole. There were baskets of small rubber balls by the table. The houseguests were anxious to hear what this game would entail. They went back to the TV screen for further instructions.
"Over on the lawn you will find the chalkboards you used the first day. Please go get one each. I will ask you trivia questions. Some will be multiple choice and some you will be required to write the answer down. When I say 'answers' please hold up your board. Those who get the answer right will get a "roll". You will get to go behind the wall one by one, pick up a ball and roll it into the lane of the person you DON'T want to see win Head of Household. The wall is there so the others will not be able to see who's lane you have targetted. Each lane has been designated a certain number of "hits". Once a houseguest's lane has reached that number of balls the houseguest is eliminated from the game. The balls you roll into the lane will fall into the rectangular hole at the end, so you won't know how many hits the lane has already. I will tell you when you are out of the game. Let's begin with the first question...."
The questions related to Las Vegas and the BBLV/BBSF series. The houseguests were happy that the wall was in place when they went to take their rolls. Jeremy was the first person eliminated from the game. The houseguests played until they were down to just two players, Tiffany and Elizabeth. They had to go to the tie-breaker questions. It was Tiffany who eventually got the leg up and took out the last roll in Elizabeth's lane. Tiffany had won the HoH position!
Tiffany had gone from nominee to HoH in a week. What would she do with this shift of power?

NOMINATIONS/EVICTION

Tiffany was enjoying the comfort and privacy of the HoH Room. She invited everyone in for snacks and chats and never locked the door. She had gotten to know just about everyone in the house and really liked everyone. The unfortunate part of the HoH position was that she had to decide which houseguests should be put up for eviction. It was going to be a very difficult decision indeed.
She took the Safe Box into the HoH Room and stared at the row of keys she had placed on the bed. Everyone had their pros and cons. She took the keys and locked them into the Safe Box. She placed two into the black velvet bag and went to the living room. She called the others to the room and started the nomination ceremony.

"Ask anyone that I've talked to over the last 24 hours, and they'll tell you that I have been completely torn in making this decision! I've gotten some opinions, but, in the end, this was my decision...I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings, and I know that at least one of you will probably disagree with my nominations and dislike me. Just remember, this is a GAME, not to be taken personally."

The key pulling started and in the end it was Lisa and Grace who didn't get theirs. They had been nominated for eviction. Everyone was a little stunned by these choices, including the nominees. Tiffany addressed the group after the dust settled.
"So, after a lot of thinking and reasoning I have chosen to nominate Lisa and Grace. I feel that I know you two the least, and I've become really close to the other people. I'm really sorry about the choice I made, but I hope you both understand. And please remember, this is just a game...don't take it to heart!"

The game went on as usual. Lisa and Grace both wanted to stay in the game. They were both active participants and it would be terrible to have to choose between the two. There were some houseguests that had not gotten along tremendouly well with Lisa, would that be a factor in the voting?
The houseguests were brought into the Confessional Room individually and told to give their vote.
When the process was complete it was Lisa, the 35 year old mother figure who had been evicted. It seemed those small disagreements were just too much to overcome.
