Welcome to my tribute to Lighthouses. My husband Roger and I have been in love with lighthouses for about 4 years now. Ever since we visited the historic Cape Hatteras lighthouse in Buxton, North Carolina on the beautiful Outer Banks. We had our beach house right on the beach just a short walk way. That first night we sat on the beach mezmerized by this beautiful structure as it shone it's light on the water. We sat there and talked about how that lighthouse saved many a mariner. The next day, we climbed that lighthouse. It is very tall and we had to stop many times on our way up. A couple of times we almost turned back from fatigue, but we pressed on until we reached the top. We came through the door and the view just took our breath away. We were hooked. We spent about an hour up there. Passing the binoculars back and forth. It was exhilerating to say the least. On our way home to Florida, we stopped at another historic North Carolina lighthouse. Now whenever we travel, we always search the internet to see if the area has a lighthouse for us to visit. We love the romance of lighthouses. A throw back to a bygone era. Here are some of our favorite lighthouses. |
