     Con este album Thalia regresa a sus raices pop/rock, Estefano escribió la mayoría de las canciones pero también hay temas escritos por Thalia y Emilio Estefan, y dos covers de los 80's. Como era de esperarse el album se colocó en los primeros lugares de popularidad en todo el mundo convirtiendolo en el album en español femenino más vendido del año. Thalia comentó que este album sería el primer paso a su crossover y sorprendentemente lo fue; se presentó en vivo en "The Rosie O´Donnel Show", en donde interpretó "Closer to you" el cual sería su primer sencillo en inglés, sin embargo unos meses despues varias emisoras anglosajonas comenzaron a colocar en su programación el tema "The mexican 2002" el cual sonó con fuerza, especialmente en las discos/clubs.

     With this album Thalia returns to the pop/rock music style, Estefano wrote almost all the songs, Thalia and Emilio Este also wrote a couple of songs and remake two songs from the 80's. As everybody expect it this album went to the first positions all over the world and became in the best selling spanish album of the year by a female artist. Thalia said that this album will be the first step of her crossover and she was right, she performed live the song "Closer to you" in "The Rosie O´Donnel Show", this song was supposed to be her first english single but a couple of months later some radio stations from the USA started to play "The mexican 2002" in their programs and the song became popular, specially in the clubs.

     In Thalía, Mexican singer/actress Thalía brings forth a new sound that aims to be earthier, edgier, and far more rock-driven than her previous, more dulcified pop. That said, Thalía is pop, but of the most satisfactory kind, aided by excellent songs (most written by Estéfano); interesting, organic arrangements; and Thalía's distinctive (if sometimes affected) vocals. "En la Fiesta Mando Yo," an upbeat dance track with surprising accordion accompaniment, is irresistible, and the rock ballad "No Me Enseñaste" highlights a voice with range and pathos. Equally strong is "La Loca," a rollicking, thrusting duet with Rabanes lead singer Emilio Regueira rapping. Results are less satisfying on the set's English-language tracks—"Closer to You" and reworkings of "The Mexican" and "You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)"—simply because the material is unremarkable. Such tracks are not suited for an artist who sounds like she's found her voice and her material.   —LC.
