1096 - 1123 THEORETICAL TIMELINE A sandstorm loses Casca but when he comes out of it learns of a vast Christian army heading east to capture Jerusalem. He joins up with them as they are beseiging Nicea. Contacting the local Byzantine population he arranges for the gates to be opened for the Byzantine army to sneak in and take it before the Crusaders can pillage the city. He is given the job of liason between the Crusaders and the emperor as a reward and goes east with them, taking part in the Battle of Dorylaeum (1096), then the seige of Antioch (1097). They are in turn trapped in the city but uses his knowledge to unearth the Spear of Longinus which inspires the Crusaders to victory. They then take Jerusalem (1099) but the slaughter of the inhabitants sickens him and he leaves, vowing never to join them again. He leaves and wanders east, eventually finding a remote village in the wilds of Asia and settles down, ensuring the populace live free of the local warlord by defeating him. He only moves on when suspicions arise over him not ageing. |
