AD453-535 CASCA - THE SENTINEL Leaving the Empire Casca rescues a village from bandits, then sleeps for 80 years in an ice-bound cave. Revived to rescue the village again he travels to the Eastern Roman Empire and fights in the Vandal Campaign of AD534. |

AD 535-551 CASCA - THE AVENGER Casca returns to the Eastern Empire seeking revenge against the Brotherhood, and trains as a charioteer to impress the Emperor and Empress. Taking another woman and child under his protection he fights not only the Brotherhood but also in the Gothic War in Italy, taking part in the decisive Battle of Taginae. He leaves with the victorious Lombards to live with them north of the Danube. |

AD551-628 THEORETICALTIMELINE Casca lives with the Lombards for some years until wars against the Avars and Gepids eventually compel the Lombards to invade Byzantine Italy in 568. Tired of the fighting he crosses the Mediterranean to Egypt and spends time there learning about the Pharaohs until returning north he is captured and forced to fight for the Brotherhood in their quest to regain the Spear that has been taken by the Persians. Casca joins the Byzantine army of Heraclius in their war with Persia (620-628) until the final victory in 628. |

Casca is in Jerusalem when he hears of the new religion preached by Mohammed (see Casca - The Assassin. He is also mentioned as knowing Mohammed in Casca The Conquistador. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
AD628-732 THEORETICAL TIMELINE Leaving Jerusalem he travels to Arabia and joins up with Mohammed to unite Arabia under the new religion, then fights against the Byzantines in the invasion of Syria (Yarmuk 636) and Egypt (641). Falling foul of an Islamic Iman he is banished into the desert and lies hidden for decades until discovered by chance. Once recovered, he joins Tarik's Moors in the invasion of Visigothic Spain and helps them win in battle against Roderic (AD711). For a while he lives as a conqueror but fate conspires to make him a fugitive and he flees to France where he joins up with the Franks under Karl to defeat Abd-er-Rahmann's Arabs at Tours (732). |

AD732-795 THEORETICAL TIMELINE Casca becomes a count and assigned to one of the Eastern counties to administer which he enjoys. But time is an enemy and he has to leave, becoming an ordinary soldier in the army of the king Karl (Charlemagne) and takes part in campaigns in Spain (778), Saxony and, finally, the utter annihilation of the Avars at the Battle of the Ring (795). |
