PART THIRTEEN - 1899 TO 1943
1899 - 1900
CASCA THE CURSED
Joining the British army in Hong Kong Casca is sentenced to death for executing a Lieutenant in an act of revenge.  Spared, he is sent as a spy to China but is captured by a Chinese noble.  Deciding to join them, Casca leads his army in the Boxer rebellion of 1900, sacking the British legation in Tsungkow, but he is betrayed by his own side and ends up losing everything. He escapes thanks to the Brotherhood.

CASCA THE TRENCH SOLDIER
After serving in the Chinese government for a while, Casca has to leave for London after being recognised as a former army murderer.  As part of the homeless mass in Britain, he manages anonymity, then becomes a miner in Wales, until War breaks out and Casca signs up to fight in Flanders against the Germans.  He is part of the British force that has action at Mons and The Marne.  Eventually he is badly wounded and left for dead, but the ship he is on is sunk, and he is picked up by a ship bound for Gallipoli.
Above: Casca faced repeated German attacks in the summer and autumn of 1914 as the British army he belonged to tried to stop the invading armies.
1915 - 1939
THEORETICAL TIMELINE

Casca recovers in Egypt where provisions are being loaded and he signs up with Australian and New Zealander troops (ANZACs).  They land at Gallipoli and have to endure dreadful conditions, and many of his colleagues are killed.  Eventually they are taken off and go to Salonika in Greece to await further orders.

Casca decides this is not for him and sneaks on board a transport ship that returns to Egypt.  Joining the British forces there under Allenby, he takes part in the push into Palestine, capturing Jerusalem (1917) and Acre (1918).  When the war ends Casca is in Aleppo.  During the wild celebrations Casca slips quietly away, looking for a new job.

Casca is in Istanbul when the War between Greece and Turkey breaks out.  Deciding Greece is in the wrong Casca joins the army of Mustapha Kemal and takes part in the Battle of the Inonu River that finally throws the Greeks back (1922).  Once the war ends he hires himself out for other jobs, finding employment with the Spanish in North Africa when the Riff tribes breakout in rebellion.  He is still serving in their army when Spain is plunged into Civil War and he is part of Franco's army that crosses to Spain and defeats the Republican side between 1936 and 1939.  After that he sees the growing threat of communism and crosses the Pyrenees and Rhine to Germany.
