| The new millenium is here and along with it comes a whole new way of scrapbooking. Computers are becoming the scrapbookers assistant and can help in a varitety of ways. Graphics, backgrounds, templates and such can be printed from computers onto archive paper. Research on topics of interest, historical facts as well as song lyrics, poems and quotes can all be found on the computer and if you want to take this technology one step further...you can put the entire scrapbook onto your computer too! There are many software packages out there that can help you create beautiful computer generated scrapbooks, photo processing centers are now offering to put photos on computer disc and scrapbooks can be saved on CD. This is a great way of sharing scrapbooks with friends and family who live a distance away. A fun project to do is to make digital scrapbooks and place on a website. This is great for new babies! There are, however, drawbacks to digital photography and scrapbooks. I remember when I first started with computers. I saved everything on 5 1/4" floppies. That's what was used back then. Where are they now? I have a lap top that doesn't accept CDs. So that's the drawback...technology changes quickly. How log will CDs be around and when they are obselete will you be able to transfer your scrapbooks? I'm not saying that digital photography and scrapbooks aren't worth it. I have quite a few. I'm just saying that you should give it a good thought before relying on that method. If you don't have a digital camera and you want to make digital scrapbooks, then get a scanner. I generally scan in my photos. It's easier and I think my 35mm takes better pictures than my digital camera. My scanner is an OfficeJet K80 by Hewlett Packard. It's a scanner, copier, printer, and fax and is awesome. I got it for Christmas and truly love it. Shop around. There's a lot out there to choose from! |
