| Getting Started in Scrapbooking Organization 1. Collect every photo in your house. Use a laundry basket if you have to. Empty boxes, drawers and old, destructive photo albums. 2. Start making piles of your photos according to year. 3. Go through each pile and arrange by subject. 4. Purchase photo boxes (they look like decorative shoe boxes) and date and organize your photos. These boxes are great for storing negatives as well. You can also use manilla folders. Timeline I'm a list fool! I love them and won't do anything without one. Write down a timeline for all your photos. Make a plan as to what goes where. Sort and choose themes. Get your battle plan together. Negatives As you organize your photos, you should organize your negatives as well. Mylar sleeves in a 3-ring notebook is an excellent way to keep negatives. Get Going Buy your supplies. You can find a basic supply list here. Choose which album you would like to start and get going! I've heard that it's best to start with the most recent and work backwards, but I think it's just a matter of choice and what you want to do first. If all of your photos are nicely organized into scrapbooks, then pat yourself on the back. Maybe you would like to look at my themes page for some ideas of future albums!! |
