Note:  Nothing R Rated!

Casper

Casper the friendly ghost hits the big screen with awesome special effects.  Adults will enjoy the special effects and the story as much as kids will enjoy the ghosts.  Christina Ricci of Addams Family fame lends her talent well to the script.  Rated PG.
****

Charlotte's Web

Animated adaptation of E.B. White's story of the friendship between a pig and a spider.  Classic story and the kids enjoy it.

Cheaper by the Dozen

Portrayal of a large turn-of-the-century (1899-1900) family run by their father the efficiency expert psychologist.   I will never forget the scandalous part of the movie where the father describes his efficiency ideas for bathing to the teacher at the childrens' school; hilarious!  Not rated.
****

Christmas Story, A

The story of a 1940's era family and the zany things that happen around Christmas.  Centered around the son's single-minded ambition to get a BB gun and the father's zeal over winning a prize in a puzzle contest.  Everyone will enjoy this atypical holiday movie.  Rated PG.
****

Cinderella

Classic Disney adaptation of the fairy tale.  Every aspect of this movie is wonderful and enduring.  I personally love the mice and their song, "Cinderella."  Rated G.
*****

City of Angels

Thought-provoking tale about the role of angels.  Seth is an angel that falls in love with Maggie, a heart surgeon, and then finds out there is a way to become mortal.  The music is superb, and there are cool special effects.  Rated PG-13.

City Slickers

Male-bonding movie about three men going through mid-life crises and taking a trip to a real ranch to try to sort out their situations.  Everyone does a fabulous job, but Jack Palance really shines.  Rated PG-13.
****

City Slickers II: The Legend of Curly's Gold

Billy Crystal discovers a treasure map in Curly's hat, and also sees Curly's ghost.  He takes his ne'er do well brother with him on the trip out west to get to the bottom of the situation.  I liked Jon Lovitz and his performance was good, but I missed the chemistry between Crystal and Kirby.  Rated PG-13.

Cocoon

Sci-fi story about a group of people from a senior housing complex that find the "fountain of youth" in the pool next door.  The only problem is that the pool belongs to aliens that want their existence kept a secret, and suspicions mount.  Great acting!  Rated PG-13.
****

Cocoon: The Return

The aliens and elderly people return to earth and face complications. Not as great as the first, but still a nice story.   Rated PG.

Color Purple, The

Based on the novel by Alice Walker, portrays the story of Celie, a black woman in the south in the early 1900's.  Very serious consideration of Celie's life and how she copes after being separated from her sister, "the only somebody that loves her."  The acting is superb by everyone and Goldberg is supported by a winning cast. Rated PG-13, not recommended for immature children.

Coneheads, The

Based on the Saturday Night Live skits of the 70's, Dan Akroyd and Jane Curtin are hilarious as the stranded aliens.  Rated PG.
****

Crocodile Dundee

A reporter sent down under to interview a real crocodile hunter brings him back to New York with her.  The bathroom scene is unforgettable!  Followed by sequel, which I will not review because I haven't seen it.  Let me know if it is good!  Rated PG-13.
***

Curly Sue

Depressing story of a homeless girl and her "father" who plan to con a wealthy attorney by faking an accident.  When she takes them in, emotional attachments form all around and complications set in.  Rated PG.
***

Cutting Edge, The

A washed up hockey player and spoiled figure skater pair up in an unlikely match that would work if they would both put their egos and prejudice behind them.  Add a romantic entanglement, and the story gets even better.  I really like this one!  Rated PG.
