All star cast adaptation of Shakespeare's classic Hamlet.  Minor interpretation changes, but still true to the tale.  Great for novice Shakespeare enthusiasts; can help them understand the story if reading it is too intense, although Shakespeare's original will need to be read if there is perhaps a paper or test involved!!!  Rated PG.

My family enjoyed this movie a lot more than the critics did.  A lot of physical comedy, and Adam Sandler is not as annoying as he can be(see Billy Madison-yuck!).  Some language and sexual inference.  Rated PG-13.

Harriet is the poor little rich girl who was taught independent thought by her nanny (O'Donnell).  When Mommy and Daddy get mad at the nanny, she quits and Harriet's world falls apart.  Her worst enemy at school finds Harriet's secret spy notebook and shares its secrets with all of their classmates and Harriet finds herself without any friends.  Rated PG.

Another Disney masterpiece-this time exploring mythology rather than fairy tales.  Great as an introduction to Greek mythology for children who will, I guarantee, have lots of questions about Zeus, Hera, etc.  The music is fun, the characters are interesting, and the story is nice and fast paced.  An all-star cast voices the characters, including Danny DeVito, James Woods, and Rip Torn.  Our favorite song was Zero to Hero (the Muses are incredible!).  Rated G.

I was disappointed in this Disney story about witches that was marketed for children-it was much more gruesome and mature than I expected.  Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Nijimy are fabulous as the witches, especially early in the movie.  Do not show this to young children, it will scare them.  Rated PG, should be PG-13!

The first Home Alone was excellent because it was something fresh and funny.  A lot of physical humor and triumphing over bad guys.  The sequel was a carbon copy of the first movie, just in another setting, and not as enjoyable because it was no longer fresh.   Rated PG.

Claudia, played by Holly Hunter, faces the trauma of going home to see her family for the holidays.  I could not figure out if it was trying to be funny or dramatic, either way it was pathetic.  Rated PG-13.

Wonderful story of the family pets trying to find their owners during a move.  If only we could understand animals, they would talk like the narration in this movie!!  Michael J. Fox, Don Ameche, and Sally Field are fabulous as the voices of the pets.  Rated G.

In the first in the series, a goofy scientist (played by Rick Moranis) accidentally shrinks his children and the neighbors' children and then throws them in the trash.  The third in the series is Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves (I have not seen the second, e-mail me if you did!), is more of the same and equally as funny.  The original is rated G, the sequel is PG,

A funny look at the future of Peter Pan-he grew up and became a "pirate!"  The cast of characters really shines and there are great special effects.  Can you find Bill Cosby and Glenn Close as pirates?  Rated PG.

Hope Floats was a dismal and tedious film.  I was very disappointed considering the hype this movie got.  It was touted as a chick flick, but no one I know liked it.  Rated PG-13.

Dramatic movie about a cold professional woman whose daughter is involved in a tragic accident with her horse.  She takes her daughter and the horse from New York to Montana to see a man renowned for healing horses in the hopes it will help her daughter.  During the time in Montana she falls in love with the trainer.  Directed by Robert Redford.  Rated PG-13, parental supervision required during the beginning and the crash scene.

Classic Dr. Seuss tale of the evil Grinch who wants to stop Christmas.  It is short, sweet and simple.  Not rated.

Summer romance story about a woman trying to come to terms with her life and engagement while spending the summer with her grandmother.  While her grandmother and her friends work on the woman's wedding quilt, they exchange stories of past loves.  Based on the book by Whitney Otto.   Rated PG-13.

Disney attacks another classical legend, that of Quasimodo and Notre Dame.  The voice talent is once again the best Hollywood has to offer, including Demi Moore, Kevin Kline, and Tom Hulce.  Nice storyline, and of course good triumphs over evil.  Rated G.
