Chapter 419
"I've been waiting for you D.V. Patterson! Come to get revenge have you!" Sorophyte said avoiding the attack. Gmerc leapt back and opened fire with his sword. Shot after shot flew at Sorophyte who blocked each of them.
"It's going to take more then that," Sorophyte said.
"I know," Mercury snapped and drew both his swords. Black energy flew across the roof.
Sorophyte hurriedly blocked the attacks as well.
"My turn!" Sorophyte shouted. A wave of energy flew across the roof. Gmerc leapt over it.
"Mercury Devout Vengeance!" he shouted in mid air sending the attack shooting downward. Sorophyte avoided it and then leapt into the air bouncing off a vent. He sent a massive blast into the air. Gmerc shot into it. The energy hit anyway and knocked him off balance. Sorophyte sent a barrage dropping towards him. Gmerc dodged most of them and fired back.
"Ah....I see.." Sorophyte shouted and dropped.
The two let loose their attacks again. Gmerc shot forward and sliced through Sorophyte's chest. Sorophyte whirled and hit him point blank. Gmerc pitched towards the roofs edge.
"And it ends!" Sorophyte shouted blowing apart the rooftop and sending Gmerc leaping off of it.
"Sorry...not that easy!" Sorophyte said leaping after him and knocking an energy blast downward. Gmerc fired seconds before he was hit and knocked downward. He fell into the side of a skyscraper and then bounced off falling several hundred feet and landing on a car.
"If you're not dead yet..I'll kill you later.
"EARTH OVERWHELMING ESSENCE!"
An attack flew across the sky. Sorophyte whirled and barely avoided the attack.
"Oh very nice..but not today!" Sorophyte said and floated to a rooftop.
"SOROPHYTE come back and face me!"
Sorophyte grinned and leapt off.
Once again D.V. Patterson was rushed into the hospital.
"What a mess.." the doctor said. "This is going to be a rough one."
"Oh..D.V. why did you have to go and do that?" Ayeka said watching with concern.
"It was what he was waiting for..what he lived for," Haruka said.
"No..he lived for more then that," Ayeka said.
"Perhaps," Haruka said.
"Haruka..I contacted the Guardians. There's a war going on down in the sewer.." Michiru said hurrying down there.
"What?" Haruka said.
"Apparently everyone down there is after them," Lita said.
"We've got to go then," Haruka said. "Ayeka, you and Ai keep an eye on things here."
"Oh..I'm not going anywhere," Ayeka said.
Haruka, Lita, and Michiru hurried down a hallway.
"Things are beginning to spin out of control," Haruka said.
The other two nodded.
"And now yet more pieces get added to the puzzle," Haruka said.
"Uranus..Fire Spikes Attack!"
"Neptune Golden Triton Impale!"
"I'm the man!" the sewer daimon said shooting down the attacks.
"I hate you!" Guardian Pluto said leaping forward. He delivered his storm fist to the head.
"Saturn..Blade of Galaxies!"
The attack hit the sewer daimon and knocked him forward.
"Sword time!" Uranus shouted. The four opened fire.
The sewer daimon shouted and fell to the ground.
"Finally," Uranus said.
"Uh..guys..how are we supposed to heal him?" Pluto asked.
"Maybe our powers will work," Saturn said.
"Worth a try," Neptune said.
"Saturn Healing Power!"
"Nothing seems to be happening," Uranus said.
"Neptune Healing Power!"
They watched.
"Pluto Healing Power!"
"YAHHHHHH! IT BURNS!" the sewer daimon shouted. A dark cloud of smoke rose from him.
"I think that did it," Saturn said.
"Hah hah, you guys really had trouble taking me down didn't ya.." The sewer daimon said. "I'm going to sleep now."
The four glanced at each other.
Saturn pulled out his communicator.
"Jupiter you there?" Saturn asked.
"So to speak," Jupiter said. "We sort of have a problem though...namely that a massive army of creatures is chasing us."
"We'll come help where are you?" Saturn asked.
"How should we know!" Jupiter said.
"Good point!" Saturn said. "Just try and get out of the sewer will you?"
"Is that a wise idea? The creatures may just follow us," Jupiter said.
"I don't know..Saturn said. "Wait a sec..I'm getting another call," Saturn said.
Sai appeared.
"All right listen up.." he said. "Jupiter keep going straight. You will soon pass an access tunnel. Keep running. Saturn..all of you head west!"
"Got it!" Saturn said. The four headed down a tunnel.
"That's east!" Sai shouted.
The four turned.
"I'll guide you," Sai muttered.
"How you feeling Sai?" Saturn asked.
"That's unimportant, you've got the real problems," Sai said.
"Sorophyte..you aren't looking well?" Ircanite asked.
"Just a little run in with Guardian Mercury," Sorophyte said. "Nothing major."
"Perhaps," Ircanite said. "Have you noticed though that the Guardian Scouts have been poking around in the sewers?"
"And they've run into the monsters that dwell there. They won't be able to get much closer."
"What that means though is that Guardian Scouts know about our next operation."
"Not necessarily, they may just be looking into it."
"Won't this be quite a hint!" Ircanite said.
"It depends," Sorophyte said.
"So it does. I want this taken care of," Ircanite said.
"It will be," Sorophyte said.
"There they are," Guardian Earth said. The other four waited.
Three figures dropped through a manhole.
"What a mess," Sailor Uranus said. "Well..attack them!"
"Earth Elemental Vigor!"
"Uranus World Shaking!"
"Neptune Deep Submerge!"
"Jupiter Sparkling Wide Pressure!"
"Neptune Tide of Destruction!"
"Uranus Flame of Desire!"
"Saturn Blade of Galaxies!"
"Pluto Hurricane Punch!"
"Mars Star Laser!"
"Venus Star Burst!"
"Jupiter Star Inferno!"
The attacks shot down the tunnel and connected. The creatures all let out shouts of pain and stopped momentarily.
"Now what?" Guardian Uranus asked.
"We retreat," Sailor Uranus said.
"But we should find out what's going on down there," Guardian Saturn said.
"No.. Not yet," Sailor Uranus said. "We don't know what will find, the eight of you are probably exhausted. We wait."
"Guess you're right," Guardian Saturn said.
"I think we've found the secret though," Guardian Earth said.
"Most definitely," Sailor Uranus said.
"It's good that you're up and about now Sai," Ai said.
"I'll feel better when I can fight again," Sai said. "I have some unfinished business with Sorophyte."
"Don't push yourself Sai, I don't want to see you hurt like this again," Ai said.
The doors opened and D.V. was rolled in and placed on a bed.
"What happened to him?" Sai asked.
"An encounter with Sorophyte," Ai said.
"I see," Sai said. "He obviously didn't win."
The rest of the scouts headed down a hallway and arrived at Patterson's room.
"How is he?" Greg asked.
"He'll be fine in a couple of weeks at most," Ayeka snapped. "What a fool he is."
"Sai..how are you?" Akiro asked.
"On the road to recovery. However I am not fully healed yet," Sai said.
"Yeah I'll bet," Akiro said. "Thanks for the help."
"At the moment we are all on the same team working towards the same goal," Sai said. "Besides it seems like for a while I'll have to be your backup."
"It'll be good to see you back in action," Akiro said.
"You won't have a long wait," Sai said.
"Now..remember what I told you Sai," Ai said.
"What did you tell me?" Sai asked.
Ai frowned.
"Go off and die for all care," She snapped and walked off.
"She was worried about you, you're like a brother to here. I don't think that was the way to play it," Akiro said.
"Perhaps not," Sai said.
"How are things there?" Setsuna asked into her communicator.
"They could be a lot better," Haruka said. "Patterson set a new record for free fall onto a parked car today."
"That's an awfully dark way to see it. How is he?"
"The usual after such affairs. You?"
"Malachite, Zoisite, and Nisiran have been turned to the negaverse side again. Only Jasen got away. This is getting serious, they had several of the crystals," Setsuna said. "The scouts are pretty tired, but we have to keep moving. We have to find the rest of the crystals before the enemy does."
"We believe we've stumbled onto another enemy plot," Haruka said. "We need to rest up before tackling it though and Sorophyte is lurking."
"Haruka.." Amy grabbing the communicator.
"D.V. fought him didn't he?"
"Yes.."
"You can't let my brother fight him again, D.V. will get himself killed."
"I will do all I can," Haruka said.
"Promise me!"
"I will..I promise," Haruka said.
"Very well," Amy said and walked off.
"She's right to be worried," Setsuna said.
"I know."
"Well we had better get moving. Keep us posted."
"We will," Haruka said. "Good luck."
"You too."
Three days passed.
At Haruka's request, Tokyo General Hospital was surrounded by Police and SDF vehicles. While it was true they could not stop the enemies, so many people around did increase the chances of the enemy being detected.
"At last.." Sai said. "I can get on with my life."
He climbed out of the hospital bed.
He glanced over at Patterson.
"We must speak later Patterson," he said and walked out followed by Sai and Akiro.
"You know D.V. if you weren't so beaten up I'd probably kick the stuffing out of you right now," Ayeka said.
"Ayeka..please.." Patterson said weakly.
"Please..what? What were you thinking challenging him like that!"
"It is my destiny."
"Revenge is going to get you killed. Is that what you want?"
"Revenge is going to bring me to kill him. I know what to expect now."
Ayeka drew her hand back.
"Ooo..you jerk!" Ayeka said and pounded the empty bed nearby.
"How dare you do this to all of us. To be so selfish!"
She stormed out.
"She's got a point you know," Greg said walking in.
"Does she now?" D.V. asked.
"D.V. You're no match for Sorophyte. You know that."
"I have to be."
"You can't beat him."
"I will beat him."
"You didn't even come close."
"That was the first time. This is the.."
"D.V. I won't let you fight him again. None of us will."
"Try and stop me."
"We will do all that we need to."
"I don't think you will," Patterson said.
"D.V. it's for your own good that you don't fight him."
"I don't care what is for my own good. He killed my parents, now I'm going to kill him."
"But you can't. Let us all fight him."
"I must beat him alone."
"You won't beat him alone," Greg said.
"All right..are we clear on this?" Haruka asked.
"Sure..we go in and we tear the place up, what more is there to it?" Seiya asked.
"There is more to it," Haruka said. "Do I have to explain it again."
"No I've got it," Seiya said.
"Are we ready?" Haruka asked.
The group nodded.
"Then let's go," Haruka said.
Ayeka and Sai remained behind.
"Good luck," Ayeka said.
"And stay sharp," Sai said.
The group hurried out.
"How ironic that I should be guarding my greatest rival," Sai said.
"The rivalries have to stop sometime," Ayeka said.
"True, but I'm afraid that my next action will do nothing to help it."
"What?"
"I am going to kill Sorophyte."
"What? You can't be serious."
"Quite serious. I will speak with Patterson alone," Sai said and headed into the room.
Ayeka turned and looked on in surprise.
"What do you want?" Patterson asked.
"I'll tell you," Sai said. "Patterson, you seek revenge on Sorophyte for what he did to your parents. Your path is rightly to avenge their deaths. However what you do not know is that is my path as well."
"You're path?" Patterson asked.
"He killed my parents probably during the same mission. He struck them down mercilessly. And it is now my turn to attack."
"I demanded challenge first I still have the right."
"You lost."
"And what makes you think you'd do any better then?"
"Perhaps I won't, but I still will fight him."
"Both of you!" Ayeka shouted storming into the room. "Look you idiots, neither of you can beat him alone, now this is a job for a bunch of the scouts!"
"I didn't want to be disturbed," Sai said.
"I don't give a...look you two...you are fighting over who's going to get killed first is that it!" Ayeka said. "Sorophyte is an enemy commander. He's incredibly strong. You can't just expect that one of you fighting on the quest for vengeance alone will beat him. It won't happen!"
"I am obligated," Sai said.
"As am I," Patterson said. "At the very least Sai, I understand your rationale, but you won't kill him."
"Nor will you," Sai said.
"I will."
"You won't," Ayeka said. "Neither of you alone can do it!"
The door swung open.
"You!" General Patterson shouted. "You imbecile!"
"Oh wonderful...more compassion," D.V. said.
"How dare you go and do that! You fool! You! What a way to honor your parent's memory by getting yourself killed! What are you thinking!" General Patterson shouted.
"I know my duty!"
"Duty my...now you listen up..you try to fight that guy again I'll kill you myself!"
"Guess the opposition is clearly stacked against you," Sai said and headed out.
"Sai! You won't win," Patterson said.
"You..I didn't raise you to be such a moron," General Patterson said.
"See, everyone knows you're wrong," Ayeka said.
"And none of you have endured my pain," D.V. said.
Meanwhile in the sewer.
"What wonderful countryside they have down here," Guardian Earth said.
"Wait till you see the golf course they're putting in," Guardian Neptune said.
"I've already reserved a condo," Guardian Uranus said.
"Those are hard to get I hear," Guardian Earth said.
"Extremely," Guardian Neptune said.
"We're getting close," Guardian Saturn said.
The group stopped.
"Sai are you there?" Sailor Uranus said into her communicator.
"I am here, conducting scans," Sai said. "So far you've only got the natives to deal with."
"All right..let's go to it!" Sailor Uranus said. "Try not to do any unnecessary damage."
"You're telling that to the Guardian Scouts?" Guardian Pluto asked.
"Sorry I said anything," Sailor Uranus said.
The group raced down a tunnel. There was a shout and a group of natives raced down the tunnel towards them.
"Here we go! Jupiter Thunderclap Zap!" Sailor Jupiter shouted.
"Let's give em a good ol pasting! Argh!" Guardian Neptune shouted.
The energy exploded down the hallway. Energy flew back at them.
"Duck!" Sailor Neptune shouted. They all dived.
"It's hammer time!" Guardian Earth shouted and sent his attack blasting down the tunnel. The creatures screamed.
"Never say it's hammer time again," Neptune said. "It's lame and I've already patented that saying."
"Oh.." Guardian Earth said. "Sorry."
"Enough!" Sailor Uranus said. They continued to race down the tunnel.
"Another crystal!" Sailor Moon said.
"Too bad you can't keep it!" Malachite shouted rushing forward.
"Don't be too sure!" Sailor Mars replied racing forward. Her attack flew out causing Malachite to dodge out of the way.
"Don't forget about me!" Zoisite shouted.
"We've still got a lot to talk about!" Tuxedo Mask shouted leaping forward with his staff.
"Oh leave some of the fun for me too!" Venus shouted throwing out her love chain.
"And Nisiran makes three," Jasen said.
"Looks like it's an all out attack then," Sailor Pluto said.
The two leapt into action.
"Mercury Ice Storm Blast!"
Malachite avoided it.
Fog rolled in over the battlefield.
"Cheap trick!" Malachite shouted and blasted it away.
Moon Tiara Magic!
"I'm not particularly impressed!" Malachite said and knocked it away.
"Oh..dear," Sailor Moon said. "I need to be more effective then this! Moon Sword!"
Her original Moon Sword appeared in her hand.
"Oh this is so wimpy. I hate having so little power!" she shrieked.
"It won't be a problem for long!" Zoisite said leaping towards her.
"Don't be too sure!" Sailor Mars said connecting and knocking Zoisite to the ground.
"Hah..that's just what I wanted!" Zoisite shouted throwing a barrage into Mars and knocking her across the battlefield. Tuxedo Mask charged flinging roses.
"So we meet again cape boy!" Zoisite shouted and through her attack back at him.
"Venus Love and Beauty Shock!"
The attack hit her dead on.
"Another stalemate," Ircanite muttered. "We shall retreat!"
"We were getting somewhere!" Malachite snapped.
"Mercury Frigid Tsunami!"
"You little brat!" Malachite snapped and knocked the attack away.
"Ehh.." Ircanite said.
The three vanished.
"Yippe!" Sailor Moon shouted. "The can't touch us."
"They also haven't been willing to go all out," Tuxedo Mask said.
"You'd think they'd want these crystals more then they seem to act like they do." Sailor Mars said.
"Maybe they're distracted," Sailor Mercury said.
"We should keep moving," Jasen said. "There's still several crystals out there. We can't let them get them, even if they don't seem to want them."
"I wonder how the others are doing," Sailor Venus said.
"Okay..several hundred of them..a few of us..I like the odds.how about everyone else.." Guardian Earth said.
The scouts eyes narrowed.
"It's too late to turn back now. I'm sick of waiting," Sailor Uranus said. "We will decide this battle now."
"He's here," Sailor Earth said.
Their communicator's went off.
"All right so you've made it this far," Sorophyte said moving to stand in front of his troops. "But now we get serious!"
"All of those creatures and him?" Sailor Jupiter said.
"We can do this," Guardian Saturn said.
"Yeah!" The Guardian Scouts said.
"Tell you what Sailor Uranus..if you Jupiter, Earth, and Neptune can handle Sorophyte we'll take care of our other problem," Guardian Saturn said.
"It's a plan," Sailor Uranus said. "Let's go!"
And the scouts shot forward.
