Chapter 423
"Ah..black..so you unveil a special wardrobe for me?" Sorophyte asked.
The two Guardians stared at him.
The customary breeze rolled in as the skies began to darken.
"Ah..yes..I see we're going to have some lightening..how suitable," Sorophyte said.
Guardian Moon and Mercury watched him letting their cameras scan him while they took in the terrain and thought of how best to use it to their advantage.
"Hmm..not the talkative types are you? Don't you want to condemn my actions to the heavens are some other ludicrous thing?" Sorophyte asked. "Don't you want to tell me what I'm in for."
Moon and Mercury still said nothing and continued to stare.
"I suppose not," Sorophyte said with a grin. "My my you are angry aren't you. All I did was kill your parents. And I enjoyed it too. I mean you can't understand what fun it is to take a life. I'm sorry I haven't been able to do more of it while I was here. Then again, they'll be plenty of time for that later."
He laughed.
The two still said nothing.
"Oh..look at you all..so defiant. Very well..I can accept defiance. Just makes it more interesting. Just how long can you keep this up? It doesn't really matter, I'll kill you anyway!"
He formed a light sword in his right hand.
"We ready to go?" he asked and let out a laugh.
"Time to cut off the family tree permanently!" he shouted.
Moon and Mercury shot forward.
"HAH!" Sorophyte shouted and leapt. They passed in midair. Each side turned.
"You're really going to have to try harder if you want to hit me," Sorophyte said.
The two continued to stare at him.
"Oh..all right I'll make the next move!"
A barrage of energy exploded from his light sword. The two split up and charged forward. Sorophyte leapt over them and fired back towards the ground.
They both dived out of the way.
"Now it has begun!" he shouted laughing.
Guardian Mercury leapt into the air as well shooting energy from his swords at a massive rate. Sorophyte fired back with equal speed.
The two landed.
"Galactic Moon Retaliation!"
The attack shot at him. Sorophyte spun and blocked it.
"Mercury Infinite Vengeance!"
Sorophyte whirled again and dodged it.
He spun shooting a scythe of energy out in all directions.
Guardian Moon slid under it and fired his sword. Sorophyte side stepped it. Gmerc connected with a sword blast. Sorophyte whirled and unleashed a barrage of energy.
Guardian Moon charged forward.
"Moon!"
The attack shot out. Sorophyte knocked it away and lunged forward. He swung his energy sword. Guardian Moon blocked it. Sorophyte swung his other arm around energy glowed around it.
Guardian Moon ducked the attack and spun swinging his word. Sorophyte swung back at him.
"Mercury!"
Sorophyte slid back. The attack slid by him.
"Not quite!" Sorophyte replied and threw a wave of energy in their direction.
They both leapt over it.
Their enemy leapt into the air and launched his scythe again. The two swung their swords through it.
The group landed.
"All right I can see you're better prepared this time," Sorophyte said. "However this is not a problem. Do you really want to get serious!"
The two fired their swords, by his head. He sidestepped it and raced forward spewing energy.
They charged at him swinging their swords at a massive rate. Sorophyte fired back. They dodged it and charged again almost in unison.
"Well aren't you annoying!" he shouted.
Gmerc and Moon connected swinging through chest. He swung back with his energy sword. They slid back.
Guardian Mercury drew his swords and let loose a barrage. Sorophyte leapt at him building his energy. Gmerc slid under the attack and whirled.
Guardian Moon raced forward and swung his sword attack.
Sorophyte dodged under it and built his power unleashing a two fisted barrage. The two scouts avoided it.
"Seems like those attacks just aren't going to do it huh?" Sorophyte snapped. "Well I'm as fast as you are?"
"Unfortunately for you, you're not.." Guardian Moon said.
"Oh..now you're speaking huh?" Sorophyte said. "Well, we'll just have to shut you up then."
He shot forward. The two Guardian Scouts split up again.
Guardian Mercury spun on his heel and leapt straight. Sorophyte whirled and aimed his sword. Mercury spun in the air and connected, driving his sword into Sorophyte's shoulder. Sorophyte let out a shout and punched Gmerc sending him back.
"MOON Galactic Retaliation!"
"It will never be that easy!" Sorophyte shouted blocking the attack with an energy shield. He raced forward spitting glowing with energy. Guardian Moon ducked under him and swung.
"Nope!" Sorophyte shouted and grabbed the blade. The energy exploded flinging them both back.
"I can take it. I don't think you can!" Sorophyte shouted.
"I can take it," Guardian Moon snapped. "You just wait and see!"
Guardian Mercury leapt out of apparently nowhere. Sorophyte ducked him and leapt back.
"Well..well..well..you really think you're getting anywhere?" Sorophyte asked. "I fought off four Sailor Scouts..you are merely a matter of time."
"You just keep thinking that," Guardian Moon said.
"You are about to die Sorophyte," Guardian Mercury said. "Remember those as your last words."
"You kids are so cute with your dreams..." Sorophyte snapped. "I am going to destroy your souls."
"You came close once," Guardian Moon said. "Not again."
"We are your executioners," Guardian Mercury said.
"Oh..now the lingo comes out," Sorophyte said. "I knew it would."
"It is justified!" the two shouted and leapt forward shooting energy. Sorophyte avoided the attacks and leapt at Guardian Moon said.
Guardian Mercury veered off his course and fired. Sorophyte took the hit and charged at Moon, his eyes glowing.
"Moon Galactic Power!"
"Good for you!" Sorophyte shouted. An energy blast erupted from his hands. The two attacks exploded. Guardian Moon flew back. Sorophyte slid back and whirled smashing into Gmerc with a high-powered fist. Gmerc fell to the ground.
Sorophyte grinned and opened fire with energy. Gmerc rolled and fired back with a hail of sword blasts.
Sorophyte casually knocked them away.
"It ends now!" he shouted and blasted the ground all around Gmerc. He vaulted up and back flipped into the trees.
"Going to make it harder are you! Very well!" Sorophyte shouted and unleashed a wave that shot across the park. The bushes and trees vaporized, Gmerc was flung back into a pond.
Sorophyte whirled towards Guardian Moon.
"Only a matter of time!" Sorophyte shouted and shot out a wave of energy. Guardian Moon shot into it with his own attack. It impacted.
The two starred at each other.
"You have power," Sorophyte said. "But I have more!"
Another attack flew. Guardian Moon shot into it. It exploded.
"I'm not impressed!" Sorophyte shouted throwing his energy sword through the air.
Guardian Moon knocked it away with his energy sword.
"Shall we actually fight?" Guardian Moon said.
Sorophyte growled.
"I will kill you!"
Guardian Mercury leapt forward and swung his two swords straight into Sorophyte's back. He fired. Sorophyte shouted . Guardian Mercury flipped back. Sorophyte whirled spitting energy in all directions. The two Guardians dived out of the way.
"I will kill you!" he shouted.
The ground exploded.
Guardian Mercury and Moon were knocked to the turf.
"I can destroy you..I really can.." Sorophyte said. "This is just the beginning. If you want to see the full extent of my power..just come at me again."
Guardian Mercury and Guardian Moon stood back up and started at him.
Sorophyte held a ball of energy in his hand.
"I will kill you...I swear it. You think you're winning. Think again!"
The ball shot at Gmerc.
He avoided it. It stopped and whirled turning towards Guardian Moon.
Guardian Moon dived under it.
Sorophyte opened up on both of them. Guardian Moon was blasted back covered with bruises.
Guardian Mercury shot forward and blasted the ball to pieces he then whirled and swung unleashing another sword attack. Sorophyte grinned and blocked it. He shot out another ball.
"Mercury Devout Revenge!"
It exploded right in front of Sorophyte. Guardian Mercury leapt at him and swung his sword right across.
Sorophyte shouted and blasted him back.
"I..am not dying.." Sorophyte said. The ground exploded again.
Sorophyte slowly caught his breath.
Lightening crackled.
Sorophyte began to build his power. This is the final act. No more. He
thought.
"We've gotta hurry!" Maverick shouted.
"What do you think I am doing!" Sailor Earth replied.
"You know what I mean!"
"I am doing my best!" Sailor Earth shouted. "We're getting closer."
"We can't let them keep fighting like this. They'll get killed."
"Perhaps."
"Oh stop saying that! There's just no way they can win!"
"I'm sure they've been told such things before."
"Yes, and everyone's been right!"
"So they are stupid yet brave. I do not care. We will get there!"
"We had better!" Maverick shouted. "I was really beginning to fall in love with that guy."
"I'm sure," Sailor Earth said.
"If he goes and gets killed..."
"I know.."
"Ehh..idiot!" Maverick shouted.
the two continued to leap through the city.
"This is the end.." Sorophyte said. "I will..destroy you both with one blow..like I did your parents...yes...you're bodies will burn like their's did. They're souls were forever imprinted with the memory of that pain! And now you will feel the same thing!"
He growled.
"Prepare for your destiny!" he shouted.
"Moon Galactic Retaliation!"
"Mercury Infinite Vengeance!"
"WHAT!"
Sorophyte fired.
The blast blew apart. The two sides were thrown across the park.
Sorophyte skidded into the ground.
He slowly stood up. Cuts, bruises, and now scorch marks covered him.
"You cannot match my power!" he snapped.
He moved across the burnt ground, darkened, and black. He moved deliberately well aware of the fact his opponents were probably in no condition to resist anymore.
"How foolish you are," he said. "To think you could fight me."
Guardian Moon and Guardian Mercury stood at the other side of the field walking slowly towards him.
"How can you even stand!" He shouted.
"Don't ask stupid questions!" Guardian Moon said.
"You'll regret it later," Guardian Mercury said.
Sorophyte let out a shout and raced forward.
Guardian Moon and Mercury matched it.
They hurried at each other.
"I will not be defeated!" he shouted.
"We disagree!"
Their attacks exploded and canceled each other out.
Gmerc leapt forward swinging a sword. Sorophyte dodged under it. Guardian Moon hit him in the chest.
He staggered forward, but whirled.
The two scouts dived out of the way of the attack.
Sorophyte took in another breath and formed a shield.
"Come on..get me now!" He shouted. "You hardly have the strength to stand up!"
The two Guardian Scouts stood gasping for breath. They looked at him.
"Come on! You can't do it can you!"
"MERCURY..."
"MOON!"
The two attacks flew out and smashed through the shield. Sorophyte was thrown to the ground.
Guardian Mercury grunted and fell to one knee.
Guardian Moon held his stomach.
"We're running out of adrenaline," Moon muttered.
"Then we have to end it," Guardian Mercury said.
"You won't get the chance!" Sorophyte shouted standing. His body glowed.
"You may have gotten a little stronger, but that doesn't matter. The fact that I slaughtered your families won't somehow magically give you the power to beat me! The fact that I am malicious murderer won't help you now! In fact it will make it worse when I blast you to pieces! Throughout eternity you will know you failed to beat me and that I won!"
Sorophyte let out a shout and unleashed yet another wave of energy.
"No!" the two Guardians shouted and blasted the energy away.
They collapsed to the ground.
Sorophyte fell to one knee.
"Oh..yes...very..good.." he hissed. "Now..I'll finish you..."
In both hands an energy sword formed.
He winced as his own pain shot through him, the weakness set in.
"I'm going to come and get you," he said limping.
Moon and Mercury looked at him. Their visors giving readouts.
Moon dug his energy sword into the ground and pulled himself towards Sorophyte.
Guardian Mercury did the same.
"Oh are those things telling you actually have a chance!" Sorophyte shouted limping closer. He held his swords ready.
"I'll drive these into your hearts and then I'll blast them apart!"
The three moved slowly towards each other.
Sorophyte fumed. His eyes glowed red. Energy seemed to swirl around him. He kept limping.
The two Guardians could hardly move. Guardian Moon stopped wincing heavily.
"Not now..just a little farther!" he said.
"Yes, your death is imminent!" Sorophyte said.
The two Guardian Scouts kept approaching.
"I'm going to make it painful..I am...."
"Shut up," Gmerc said.
Sorophyte's swords crackled.
Sailor Earth and Maverick landed nearby.
"Come on!" Maverick said. "We have to help them!"
"No!" Sailor Earth shouted. "They can still fight and we cannot interfere!"
"How can you say that!" Maverick shouted.
Sailor Earth grabbed her arm.
"Don't you dare!" Maverick snapped.
"This is their destiny, interfere and forever hold that with you!" Sailor Earth said.
"I will not watch him get killed!"
"You are not meant to be a part of this decision!"
"I don't care let go!"
"Maverick you must.."
Maverick knocked Sailor Earth to the ground and leapt forward.
"Now..you two...who have caused me so much trouble!" Sorophyte shouted. He swung the swords forward!"
"NO!" Maverick shouted.
"She's right!" Guardian Mercury shouted swinging up. The two swords were knocked away.
Guardian Moon pushed forward. His sword slid into Sorophyte's chest. Guardian Mercury pushed his swords straight through Sorophyte's head.
"It ends now!" the two shouted.
Maverick stopped in shock.
The two fired. Sorophyte staggered back.
"No! I won't be defeated like this! NEVER!" He shouted.
"D.V!" Maverick shouted.
"MERCURY! Infinite Vengeance!"
"Galactic Moon Retaliation!"
The two attacks shot out and vaporized Sorophyte.
The two's uniforms reverted back to their original colors and they dropped to the ground.
Maverick raced forward.
Sailor Earth after them.
"D.V!" she said sliding up to him.
"What?" Gmerc asked.
"You..fool.." Maverick said crying. "You...stupid fool.."
"I am...alive.."
"Barely.."
"Sai..you.." Earth said.
"Berate me later," Moon said. "I need to rest. Help the others."
"Yes..we're just going to lie here for awhile," Gmerc said.
Maverick sighed.
"They'll be fine.." Sailor Earth said. "We are needed elsewhere."
"Guess so," Maverick said.
The two leapt off.
"How about that..we won," Guardian Moon said.
"Guess miracles can come true occasionally," Guardian Mercury said.
"Guess we might have to change our...out look..on life..."
"No...I doubt ...it."
The two fell unconscious.
"I guess they found a way to win didn't they?" Sailor Earth asked.
"I guess they did," Maverick said. "Still I had a right to be worried you know!"
"Of course you did. However, now things are going to be all right."
"Aside from Ircanite fighting the Guardian Scouts you mean?"
"It is an evenly matched battle," Sailor Earth said.
"The Guardian Scouts aren't evenly matched with anyone!" Maverick snapped.
"I think they will manage today," Sailor Earth said.
"You're big on the underdog aren't you."
"A group of teenagers, with no special training and granted magical powers have been given the goal to protect the world, they've survived for four years. None of us are underdogs!"
"I guess if you want to see it that way, more power to you,"Maverick said.
"Yes..well..I choose too. All I'm saying is that desperate times bring out inner power within one."
"Not in the Guardian Scouts."
"Yes, even in them. Today they shall prove themselves."
"You know this for sure."
"Well..let me put it another way. They shall prove themselves, or die."
"You're just a barrel of fun aren't you?"
"I have my personality quirks, but I believe you will find Ayeka Mizuno that I have some insight into these matters."
"Still we should keep moving, I mean they are the Guardian Scouts here."
"Oh of course, we may be needed sooner then we think!" Sailor Earth said.
"That's what I figured," Maverick said. "Why do you think the skies all get dark when these kinds of battles are occurring."
"It is merely nature's way of provide the appropriate setting."
"And why would it do that?"
"To remind us of what is at stake if we lose."
"Hmm..guess you've got a point, but I haven't really minded thunderstorms."
"It is the best it can do," Sailor Earth said. "Nature is not perfect."
"That I'll agree with."
"Let us hurry...I sense things are not well."
"Wouldn't take a telepath to think that!"
"Luna! No one's answering their communicators around here!" Sailor Moon snapped.
"They're a little busy," Luna said.
"What is going on?"
"Where are you Serena."
"We're in a plane, about..."
"An hour from Tokyo!" Mercury shouted.
"An hour away Luna," Sailor Moon said.
"You might want to tell the pilot to hurry up," Luna said.
"Why?"
"Uh.."
"Luna! What's going on!" Mars said jumping in.
"It's a long story kind of," Luna said. "You girls just get here as fast as you can!"
"Someone's in trouble aren't they?" Sailor Jupiter asked.
"Not at the moment..sort...of..look can't talk!"
"Luna!"
"Wonder why's she skirting us," Sailor Jupiter said. "It can't be good."
"But it must be bad, and the Guardian Scouts are all down there..so it must involve them," Sailor Mars said.
"Driver!" Sailor Moon said racing towards the front of the plane.
"That's pilot!" Mercury said.
"Whatever! Speed this sucker up!"
"What? Speed it up!" The pilot said.
"Right and take us right into Tokyo!"
"We're headed for Tokyo."
"Not the airport that's too far away."
"I can't fly into the city."
"You can if I say so! Do it! It's an emergency!"
"All right..but if they take away my license.."
"Shut up and fly!" Sailor Moon snapped.
The plane sped up, veered off, and shot towards Tokyo.
