Pictures of Galapagos Page 1

Seeing a commercial
airliner sitting on a deserted island is rather striking. It gives your first
impression of how remote the Galapagos Islands are. When that plane takes off you feel very
marooned! The airport is an old US Army air strip built during the
second world war. It was given to the Ecuadorian government after the war.
This is the "air terminal" *L* where you pay the park use fee/tax
and board the bus to the docks. This building is literally surrounded by wilderness.

Here we are gathering
at the docks. The M/S Alta is the three masted schooner in the back ground.

Here in Galapagos,
we spell CREATURE COMFORT in capital letters.

These are the fellow
adventurers with us on the M/S Alta. Most of the tour boats in Galapagos
carry twenty five passengers or less. Being part of a small self reliant
group for eight days is part of the adventure . You can't help getting
to know one another which is a rewarding change of pace in itself.
