Jay Mohr welcomed everyone to the new season of Last Comic Standing: Battle of the Best. He explained that in this installment of the series, comics from Season 1 will band together as a team to battle the team of comics from Season 2. Over the coming weeks, the two teams will fight for honor, integrity and, oh yeah, $500,000 in prize money!
But before the first skirmish began, Jay said that one comic from Season 2 had decided not to participate in this new competition. He announced that the comics from Season 2 had voted for comedian Jessica Kirson to be her replacement.
Next, the two teams faced each other on stage for the first time. Five comics from each team performed. From the Season 1 team, Cory Kahaney, Tess, Ralphie May, Rich Vos and Dave Mordal each did a set. From the Season 2 team, Jessica Kirson, John Heffron, Tammy Pescatelli, Todd Glass and Alonzo Bodden each took to the stage.
Then, it was up to America. The public would decide who would stay and who would go. Fans across the country got the chance to vote for their favorite comic by phone, internet and text message.
