Wish list: Basic boat: Lwl to be as per 40 footer for sailing comfort; boat to sail as upright as possible (tricky one); aft cockpit with decent bench seats for outdoor sleeping; cutter rig with all roller furling; 6 foot 1 1/2 inch headroom; aesthetically pleasing wooden look with clipper bow and wooden mast and bowsprit; flush foredeck; pretty wooden transom with walkthroiugh onto diving platform; modern underwater hull with minimum wetted surface area, shallow draft, efficient safe spade rudder; twin engines for redundancy, with easy access to engines. Living aboard comfort: deck-saloon layout so that one can see out while seated with tv, video, cd, and table convertible from dining to coffee table; galley to include ac combo grill/microwave oven, standard ac bar fridge, dc deepfreeze, propane gas and ac stoves, ac loven oven, decent worktop area, decent pot storage; main and guest cabins well seperated; main cabin with easy access to bunk and bathroom-en-suite; workbench with foldaway vice and washing machine under counter; 240v and 120v ac transformer for any shore power supply; ac and engine driven air conditioning. Boat to be as small as possible for: ease of building/ maneuverability/ maintainability/ mooring costs/ and basic boat cost; but to include all of the above. |
