The proper cage for a budgie like me is essential to its health, and happiness. You don't want a miserable bird in a small cage, right? What if you have the wrong types of stuff in there! -gasp- Oh the horror, I'm tearing a little budgie tear just thinking about it.

Size

The minimum size for a budgie cage is 18x18x18 inches. These sizes are found at your local petstore. If the person there tell you that you can have anything smaller, just kindly excuse that question and ask for one that is 18 by every diameter. Ones that are around that size is about 50-60 dollars.

Perches, Toys, Others

There are a variety of perches you can buy out there. Please try to get ones that are of different surfaces and diameters. SAND PERCHES WILL NOT WORK! They will slowly sand away at your budgies tender feet.
To get toys, please get the kind that hang from the top. DO NOT GET ONES THAT CONTAIN ZINC IN IT! It is toxic to birds. Toys should not be so long that they touch the bottom of the cage, where the budgie droppings will touch it.
Also make sure to get the best cage you can afford. My cage is 18 inches in every diameter, and it opens from the top and bottom. I have a playgym at top also!
