The sacred bull of Hermonthis. This bull is an incarnation of Menthu, a
personification of the heat of sun. He changes colour every hour of the
day.

mistletoe. Thus he was killed by a twig of mistletoe. Another legend says

When Brahma first started thinking how he would populate the creation,
his thoughts crystallized into 4 man-children. He then asked them to go
forth and populate the world but they refused preffering meditation.
Brahma then created seven more men:
Marich from his eyes, Brighu from his
heart, Angira from his head, Pulah and Pulast from his nostrils, Vasisth
from his mouth and Attri from his ears. But these seven also preffered
asceticism over worldly duties.
Still undeterred by his previous failures, he created Narad, Daksh and Kamdev. Then Shiv appeared before him in the Ardhnareswar form and he realised his fundamental mistake. He then created Manu - the first man and Satrupa - the first woman. Also see Yamaraja.
