barely out of tuesday
"Everybody tries to go back somewhere, someday...."

For the longest time, I wasn't sure if this was a real song, since my only version of it was found included in a beautiful rendition of "Round Here". To my delight, it turned up in complete form in the "Two for Joy" live compilation as an extra track.

Although it turned out to be a little different from my prior version, it was so much times more beautiful. I was immedeately gripped by the words and the whole feel of the song. I don't know if it's the way it's played or the way it's sang, or simply the words, but it evokes such a strong feeling of longing and loneliness that just gets to you. It's a song about well, recovering your satellites in the truest sense. I think these lines say it best....

"Everybody tries to go back somewhere, someday....
Would you leave a light on?"

Go back where? It could be anything from something literal, a real place, to something figurative. Basically, everyone needs time to "recover their satellites", to heal from wounds they experience in life, even "big stars".

As usual, Adam expresses how sometimes, it seems like he's not being "given that time". But instead of cursing at the world...he just cowers and asks nicely "so leave a light on for me"....you don't even have to "be there" just leave me something that will help me out even a little bit.
