margery dreams of horses
"it's best to kill the ones that matter, render blind the ones who see"

This was one of the first "pre-RTS" non-album songs I ever heard along with "Goodnight Elisabeth". To be honest, it never really did anything to me. It's not that I didn't really like it, it just didn't seem to have anything "special" about it, just another good song.....

Then I kept on hearing it, over and over again, it seemed that every live bootleg I got had this song, soon it slowly turned from so-so song, into something I always look forward to hearing. It has a rambling feel to that gives it so much character.

I read somewhere that this song was in line for the RTS album but was shelved later on because it was old. Well, if you ask me, they made the right decision by not putting it on RTS, for different reasons though. I think that the true essense of this song, the thing "special" about it is that it is a LIVE song. It just wouldn't sound the same without the cheers of the audience in the background, and believe me, this does bring in those cheers. I also have the "non-live" version from the "Flying Demos" and well, it's just not the same. Simply put, this really wouldn't translate well as a studio track in my opinion.

Too bad this song wasn't performed or included on "Across a Wire". That would've been great hearing Adam sing this one, seeing he was so pumped up that night....oh well, maybe next time.
