"i've gotta get out on my own"

One of my least favorite Counting Crows songs; but in this live version I find a bit of redemption in the tune. Hearing Adam croon the slow parts so effectively and crying the louder parts so painfully makes the song more alive, easier to feel. Wouldn't it be amazing to be one of those people down there in the crowd, looking up at the stage and watching this band perform? There must have been a few half-hearted people in the crowd; any one of us would have killed to have been there, yet they're content to lounge around and count the cigarette butts on the floor. Man. After listening to them for so long, it'd be so awe-like to see them in concert; it would finally hit home, I think, that they're really really real people, and not just voices or faces. And I think the pedestal wouldn't be their home afterwards; it'd be too easy to see them as real people, and after all, who puts real people up on pedestals?
