have you seen me lately
"common give me your white skin"

Off-key. That was my first take on this song; the opening guitar sounds painfully off-key. And then the chorus of instruments takes up the slack and brings back the life of this song.

Having heard the VH1 reinterpretation of this wonderful song, it's hard to get used to the upbeat version again. Not that the fact that Adam's singing this in the original style drags it down any; but the song just adopted so much more meaning in the slower, introspective version. Still, the message is clear and that is the fact that the big life isn't all it's cracked up to be. I've gone over this topic in several of these reviews, and so I'll refrain from rehashing it all over again.

I wonder how many bands out there are made up of people that had Mr. Jones-like dreams and now are feeling the second-thoughts of this song. How many of them are so tired of being nothing but objects; how many long to be colored in and given life again? Just a curious thought.
