Bill was raised a Methodist. When he returned from the Navy
and married Betty O'Neil in 1947, and converted to Catholism,
he caused quite a stir in Harbor Beach. Their first two
children, Cassie and Cindy, were born in Harbor Beach (1947 &
48 respectively). The family later moved to Detroit where Bill
worked in a major Department store while continuing his
commercial art training at night. William Jr. and Mary were
born, three years apart (51 & 54) but on the same day (May 26),
while in Detroit.
The family then moved to Port Huron, Michigan, lived at 2423
Riverside Drive, from 1955 till 1962. During this time, their
fifth and last child (Joel) was born (1959). The family then
moved to Broward County Florida, first in Ft. Lauderdale (2931
11th Court), later to Plantation (48th Street).
Long after 4 of their 5 children had moved on in life, William
and Bette Silverthorn (with Joel) later moved to Ormond Beach.
Still later, but now semi-retired, the two of them moved to
Land O'Lakes, Florida, outside Tampa. Their last residence was
in Zephyrhills, Florida, before Bette passed away in 1997.
William remarried in '98 to Ang Albora.

On the 50th' Anniversary of William and Bette Mae Silverthorn,
a special party was prepared at the club house near their home
in Zephyrhills, Florida. On one of the posters, that showed
many of their earlier "youthful" pictures, was listed the
following interesting statistics: "In 1946... Harry Truman was
President. The average family income was $2,400. A new house
was $12,700, a new car was $1,500, and a gallon of gas was
$0.18. A gallon of milk was $0.71, and a loaf of bread was
$0.11. Computers were invented. Truman started the CIA. The
1st U.N. assembly was held AND ... on August 17th .. Bette
O'Neil and Bill Silverthorn were married."
