Bark Mulch/Wood Chip Installation
Bark Mulching can involve as little as "Top Dressing" a layer that is already in place if it is in reasonably sound condition and relatively weed free, to as much as, complete removal of old rotted and weed filled mulch, careful installation of landscape fabric to inhibit future weed infiltration, edging the bed area and installing a border, and then putting in the bark mulch (or wood chips) to a proper depth.

Lawn Renovation
Major lawn renovations can be done in the spring, however, special care MUST be given to your newly seeded area THROUGH OUT the growing season. Late summer to early fall is the best time to totally renovate a lawn. The work can include as much as top dressing your existing lawn with a layer of new loam, applying lime and fertilizer, seeding, and applying a protective layer of straw mulch, to as little as one of several over seeding methods.

No matter what method is ultimately chosen, it is ABSOLUTELY CRITICAL that you faithfully and diligently, properly water and properly mow the new grass. If the previous sentence seems to over state the case, in fact it does not. Too many people spend big money on a Spring renovation and then don’t follow through with the watering and proper mowing and then when the hot dry summer hits, they get upset when their grass dies. If you do follow through, the results can be quite satisfying.

Lime And Fertilizer Application
Our program is limited to the application of lime and fertilizers only. We do not use any products containing herbicides or pesticides and we do not promote our program as a weed or insect control program. However, by feeding your lawn regularly, you can build up it’s health to a point where the lawns own thick lush growth can inhibit the infiltration of weeds. This assumes that a proper mowing program is being utilized.

Power Sweep And Vacuum Lawns
Power Sweeping your lawn in the early spring has many desirable results. It will get rid of debris and thatch (see links page) that has accumulated over time and has not decomposed rapidly enough to avoid interfering with grass growth. By eliminating thatch; water, nutrients and sunlight can penetrate to where it is needed much more easily, resulting (in conjunction with a properly managed maintenance program) in a lush green carpet you can be proud of.

It also gets rid of a large percentage of the sand that inevitably ends up on your lawn from winter road plowing operations. Sand, if left to accumulate, creates a layer of soil on the surface that has very poor water retention characteristics and likely contains traces of the chemical melting agents used all winter long. This combination results in a much weaker turf that is much more susceptible to disease, drought, and the infiltration of weeds and crabgrass.

We can do your entire lawn, just the area by the road, or something in between depending on your needs and budget.

Contact us to see if your lawn is in need of this worthwhile service, and for details on pricing.

Spot Reseeding/Grading
Has the winter been unkind to your lawn? Do you have bare spots or plow damage? Let us come in and re-seed those ugly bare spots and re-grade and seed damaged spots. Although spring is not the ideal time of year to do this type of work,(late summer and early fall is best), with proper care through out the growing season, reasonable results can be achieved, and you won’t have to put up with unsightly splotches all summer long.   Contact us for further details and pricing.
