LILIANAE
( Nyasa )

Together with the lilianae lovebirds, the nigrigenis lovebirds are the eye
ring species with a smaller size. A special feature of these two species
is the fact that the colour of its iris is beige. Another special feature
is the lack of violet in the rump. Birds with violet in the rump are
easily identified as crossings with fischeri and personata, being this the
reason for the difficulty of obtaining pure birds. They do not show sexual
dimorphism.
Its size varies from 13 to 15cm, the hens’ weight is around 42 and 45g,
and the cock’s weight around 40 and 42g.
The breeding does not present any difficulty, but the eggs are infertile
in a 50%. The egg-laying is around 5 eggs and the period of incubation
lasts 22 days. The incubation period begins after the first egg is laid.

The mutations known are dilute, blue and lutino.
It was through the lutino lilianae, which crossed with personata gave this
mutation and lately gave it to the fischeri through the personata.
