PULLARIA

(Red_faced)

Pullaria

Pullaria

This is the less bred species, due to the way they make the nest. This nest must be made of cork, so that they dig a hollow, and at the end of this hollow the eggs will be laid. The pullaria lovebirds usually leave the nest, so it is necessary a high temperature inside the nest so that the chicks stay alive.

Cocks and hens are very similar in their phenotype and in their size. They have an orange forehead, a light blue rump and the rest of the feathers are green. The colour of the hen mask is more pallid than the cock one. The colour of the cock feathers under the wings is black, while in the hens is green.

The egg-laying is around 5 eggs, and the incubation period lasts 23 days. The chicks leave the nest when they are around 45 days old. The first plumage is pink and the second is grey, getting the final colour when they are around 4-5 months old.

There is not any mutation known of this species.
