- Eucalypt Longicorn Beetle

- Phoracantha semipunctata, body length 25mm
- We found this beetle attracted by our window light to our backyard in early summer. When we
look for information about this insect in the internet, we found this beetle is
very famous. This is a Australian native beetle but became a major pest
of Eucalyptus plantations through out the world. Their larvae is the Eucalyptus
borer which damage the wood.

- Wasp-like Longicorn Beetle

- Hesthesis variegata, body length 20mm
- This Longicorn Beetle mimics a wasp
to gain protection. Besides its colours and body shape, the beetle moves like

- Longicorn Beetle with thickened femurs
- Amphirhoe decora., body length 20mm
- This Longicorn Beetle has all femurs thickened. Its antennae are three
times of its body length. It is brown to dark brown in colour. There is a white
line on each wings cover. We saw it when it was resting on a Acacia leaf. It
flied away after we took the above photo. It was early summer in Alexandra
Hill.
- Later in mid-summer, we also saw the beetle rested on gum leaf and Wild
Tobacco leaf (Solanum mauritianum) in Wishart
bushland.

- Longicorn Beetle

- Coptocercus undulatus, body length 30mm
- Picture was taken in Karawatha Forest during mid summer. The beetle was
hiding among in the middle of gum leaves. When we moved closer, the beetle
dropped and disappeared.
