- Pittosporum Beetle

- Lamprolina aeneipennis, male 10mm, female 15mm
- We found quite a number of them on one small plants in early summer in Macgregor
bush. Their wing-covers are shiny dark blue in colour.
The thorax and head are dark yellow with yellow legs. Their antennae and feet
are dark blue. When disturbed, they sliding down across the leaf surface and
drop to the ground. But before landing on the ground, they usually start flying
and disappear in the mid air.

- The beetle was found in the rainforest near Mt Nebo. When we
tried to take its photos, it ran quickly on leaves and stem of the host plant,
then flied away to other plants few meters near by. The beetle has the pale
brown thorax and head. The wing covers are shiny dark blue in colour with a
thin white line on outer edges.
