Hey we are coming down to Club Fortuna for Spring Break in early March. Are
there going to be many young people there, or mostly families? Thanks.

Hello Jim.
Help! I am worried about this being a good place for us to stay!! I
see so
many conflicting reports. We just need a vacation. I want to visit
sights on
the island, but it seems as if we'll have to travel by taxi everywhere!
What
activities do you suggest? We are definitely swimming with the
dolphins...what else??

What is there for kids? My boys are 7 & 11 and sometimes get a bit bored with
the beach.

I will be at Viva Fortuna at the end of August. What is the weather
like? Water temps? I will be diving, and am curious if I need a
wetsuit.

Is anybody concerned about shark attacks near Fortuna? I read
about the New York man who was attacked at Our Lucaya.

Does anyone have a telephone number or email address for CVF? I booked our
trip through an agency and want to contact the resort directly for a special room
accommodation. Appreciate your help...Thanks

Planning on going in December, are you familar with
the weather then? Also is
the dolphin swim included in "inclusive". We have a
six year old and the
agent I spoke with mentioned babysit services in the
evening being included,
I have worries about leaving is there staff really
reliable. My husband and
I also golf do you know approximately what green
fees and cart run? Sorry I
have so many questions but trying to talk him into
it, I'm ready to
go!!!!!Thanks Amy

Joe:
We discovered your sight quite by accident while
searching via GOOGLE
and want to express our appreciation for your
efforts. We have never
cruised nor visited anywhere outside the USA. When
CVF was suggested as
a less-expensive and all-inclusive spot for a 3
night stop-over during
our up-coming Florida vacation, I tried in vain to
get web info about
it. Our tour agent raved, but then I read some of
your guestbook and
forum comments and became a little concerned.
Have you personally found it necessary to tip? If
so, how much? What
is a reasonable amount to expect to be charged by a
cab to take us from
the airport to the resort?
Thankfully, I am an eternal optomist and my husband
and I are friendly
and people oriented. Perhaps this will help us
avoid the 'rude staff'
syndrome others speak of in their comments.
We will be visiting CVF Sept 10 thru Sept 13, 2001.
Hopefully we won't
encounter severe weather conditions. Considering
neither of us have ever
been outside the USA, we are in our 50's, both fair
skinned and one of
us (not him) is a bit, shall we say, 'FLUFFY', we
weren't at all sure
that an island resort was best for us. Perhaps you
have some 'not so
sun oriented' suggestions during our stay? We have
decided to venture
out for some snorkling (though neither of us swim
well) because the
pictures you posted are so beautiful.
If you or any other readers have clothing,
equipment, activity,
suggestions, please let us know. Thanks again for
your hard work and
help.

Dear Joe,
Your unofficial Club Viva Fortuna site is absolutely
great!!!
I found some very helpful information for our
upcoming vacation.
My fiance, his two kids and myself will leave for
Club Fortuna on 07/24/01 for two weeks.
We signed the membership of the Viva Vacation Club
last year at Club Viva Maya
in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, and received two "bonus
weeks" at Club Fortuna.
I'm very curious about the resort and if they keep
their promises. We were told
to be accommodated in a studio unit for four persons
and enyoy some privileges,
whatever this may mean.
What are the best rooms with ocean view?
I'm a little worried about the weather. The hurrican
season is said to
have begun already, so I'm expecting cloudy weather
and some rain. Am I right or is the weather
not so bad during this season?
Have you, or has anyone else listed in your guest
book, ever heard about the Viva Vacation Club and
RCI?
I'm looking forward to receiving your answer and
your tips.
Best regards
Sylvia

Hi Joe,
We are planning to visit CFV in September 2001 and
would like to know which
rooms are nearest to the ocean and have the best
ocean views.
Thanks,
Vivian

A girlfriend and I are taking a break from family
and work and arriving at CFV early Friday morning
7/6 returning Monday 7/9. As our flight out is 7:30
pm, we're hoping to stash our luggage at front desk
after check out and take taxi into town to shop
prior to returning for shuttle to airport. Any
recommendations?
I think we have the right attitude regarding the
resort. We've done a similar trip to Playa del
Carmen on Mexico's coast and another recently to
Curacao. Just hope check-in isn't too dreadful
(after 1:00 a.m.!) and that we get a clean room
(have paid for Oceanview). I was thinking about
taking a "gift" to the front desk staff, perhaps
something specifically "made in Virginia" as
incitement for decent service and to be generally
friendly.
We tip all-inclusive, though more lightly than we
would normally. $1 for two drinks, $4 dollars a day
for maid, $2-4 on meals depending on service and
time of day. This really was easy in Mexico after
learning that most staff make only $5 dollars a day
in wages!
Hope to meet others from USA there!

It was truly a delight to view your "Unofficial" Guide to Club
Fortuna. It is so well done, the Club should consider making it an
"official" website. Job well done guys!
