Games Today

5:15 p.m. - Pure Foods vs. Alaska
7:30 p.m. - Gordon's Gin vs. Pop Cola

It took the team six years to go 2-0 in a conference and more than two decades to pull it off in at the start of season. Tonight, Gordon's Gin tries another trick when it battles Pop Cola in the PBA All-Filipino Cup at the Cuneta Astrodome.

The Boars go for a league-leading 3-0 win-loss record -- a rare treat for the then Ginebra San Miguel crew -- against the dangerous Bottlers in the 7:30 p.m. mainer of a doubleheader which also features defending champion Alaska Milk.

The Milkmen and hardluck Pure Foods Corned Beef clash in the 5:15 p.m. curtain-raiser.

In the second game, the crowd-favorite wards of playing-coach Robert Jaworski are up against a team which dealt Alaska, last year's grand slam campaigner, an 88-96 overtine loss last Saturday in an out-of-town tussle in Lipa City.

But the Boars boast of beating the 1995 All-Filipino titlist four times in five meetings last season and thrice in the First Conference dating back to the year the RFM franchise won the crown.

Pop Cola lost its first All-Filipino outing this year to Sta. Lucia Realty without the tonsilitis-stricken Ato Agustin and with Vergel Meneses, Bonel Balingit and Zaldy Realubit still weak from recent ailments.

The Bottlers currently appears to be in top shape and they should be in order to succeed where Formula Shell and San Miguel Beer failed.

Alaska is 1-1 like its recent conqueror but is heavily-favored to improve its record against the Cowboys who, at 0-2, are just a loss away of matching a worst season start in 1992.

The Milkmen have not lost two in a row in their last 17 games and are eager to get back at the Cowboys who ran away with the win in their encounter last Feb. 8 in Iloilo.
