CNN's Pele's League

Week 3

Previews - September 13th
by Carlos Curro, Sao Paulo 55ers owner

As Week 3 approaches, there're still three undefeated teams in Pele's League. The most dangerous one is the undefeated PIMP C's REAL G's, as they scored the most total points in the league. The other two 2-0 teams are from Sao Paulo, as the Hard Plays and the 55ers have been playing well, although the 55ers offense has struggled a bit. Coaching will be a factor this week, as four teams in the NFL will have a bye week.

Let's check out this week's matches:

Randolph Blue Devils (0-2) vs. Ithaca Isolators (1-1)
Cortland, NY Gradams Greats (1-1) vs. Sao Paulo Hard Plays (2-0)
Oporto Eagles (1-1) vs. PIMP C's REAL G's (2-0)
Sao Paulo Golpes Baixos (0-2) vs. Sao Paulo CCM (0-2)
San Juan Coquis (1-1) vs. Sao Paulo 55ers (2-0)

(NFL Bye teams for Week 3: Cincinnati, Jacksonville, Pittsburgh, Tennessee)

Randolph Blue Devils (0-2) vs. Ithaca Isolators (1-1)

The Randolph Blue Devils had a very bad start, scoring very few points and having the worst attack of the league. This week they finally appeared to wake up, as they inserted Buffalo QB Todd Collins for the injured and bye week QB Mark Brunell, who they mistakely started the previous two weeks. The Ithaca Isolators feature an Okland attack, as they have 5 Raiders players starting, including leading receiver Tim Brown, and also the Oakland Defense. They also have the second best point total in the league, though they will depend too much on how the Oakland goes this week.

Cortland, NY Gradams Greats (1-1) vs. Sao Paulo Hard Plays (2-0)

The 2-0 Sao Paulo Hard Plays will face the 1-1 Cortland, NY Gradams Greats in a promising game. The Gradams Greats are coming off their first win, while the Hard Plays have shown a lot of scoring potential in their offense, led by QB Brad Johnson, TE Wesley Walls and WR Michael Irving.

Oporto Eagles (1-1) vs. PIMP C's REAL G's (2-0)

The PIMP C's REAL G's is the team to beat in this year's Pele's League, as they have scored at will, and will now face the Oporto Eagles, who will try to pull out an upset victory. The G's will again depend on QB Drew Bledsoe and RB Raymont Harris, while the Eagles are hoping QB Vinny Testaverde connects a few times with WR Derrick Alexander.

Sao Paulo Golpes Baixos (0-2) vs. Sao Paulo CCM (0-2)

These game features two struggling teams, but the good thing is that one of them will finally get their first win. Of course, the other will be at a worring 0-3. The Golpes Baixos have a better starting lineup, including QB Brett Favre, but the CCM have scored more total points than them, thanks to their St. Louis Rams Defense.

San Juan Coquis (1-1) vs. Sao Paulo 55ers (2-0)

The final game features the last 2-0 team in the league, the Sao Paulo 55ers. Although they're undefeated, they are probably the weakest one of the three 2-0 teams, as they barely defeated their first two opponents. They will need strong performances by RB Terrell Davis and WR Antonio Freeman if they want to defeat the San Juan Coquis, who'll try to get their second win of the season. They're hoping QB Troy Aikamn plays like he did in Week 1, and not like last week.
