I'm going to basically sum up DBZ in a few paragraphs, giving you the basic low down about Dragon Ball Z.
DBZ or Dragon Ball Z is basically all about saving the earth, and other planets/people perhaps. In other words helping mankind out. It starts out with the Saiya-Jin Saga, in which Vegeta, Nappa, and Radditz try to conquer Earth. It is up to Goku, and the Z-Fighters to stop them. Vegeta and Nappa not only want to conquer Earth, but want to find the 7 mystical Dragon Balls, scattered throughout the world. They long to wish for immortality, but that never happens. They are all eventually defeated, Radditz and Nappa being killed. The next to step up to the plate is Frieza, he learns of the Dragon balls on Namek and wants to make another evil wish. Frieza eventually destroys Namek, but then meets SSJ Goku, which kills him with a Destructo Disk. Confused?, Well there is alot more! Frieza is brought back from the dead, and turned into what we call, the Frieza Bot. He lands on Earth hoping to meet up with, and kill Goku. That is where he meets Trunks. Trunks ofcourse killing Frieza, and all his minions including King Cold. You would think it was over, but no. Another pest, Cell, wants to destroy Earth and conquer the many other worlds throughout the galaxy. Cell becomes perfect and fights with the Z-gang, until Gohan turns SSJ2 and kills him with a Kamehameha. Did I skip the Androids, oops! Just think of the Androids as wanting to make Earth their playground. Ofcourse, they, like all other evil doers are destroyed.
I'm almost done here, but there is one special guy still. That dude is Buu. Buu is the most powerful villain in DBZ. Making this saga awesome, unfortunately it has yet to be aired. To not spoil it for any of you, wait and see what happens when the Buu saga comes out.
So now you are wondering what are the Dragon Balls? That is simple and easy to explain. The Dragon Balls are mystic spherical balls that summon up an eternal Dragon, who can grant wishes. Pretty cool huh? Once the Z-gang gets a hold of the 7 Dragon Balls, they wish for moral things(well some).
