Due to the gang riots that broke out recently in Los Angeles, Governor Gray Davis has agreed to place resource towards the new Armadillo project, a multi-million dollar project to equip the state police forces with power armored officers, known as the Armadillos. The Armadillos will be assigned to the hottest crime spots in the state, nearly all of the 30 new troops are being assigned to the greater Los Angeles, San Diego, Sacramento, and San Francisco urban areas.
Historians of superheroes will recognize the name of Armadillo to the supervillain who was active mainly in the mid to late eighties. Armadillo, an agent of the supervillain team known as Project: Sunburst, has fought the Champions and the Order of Freedom and Liberty. He died last year, during the Genocide attack upon the country, in defense of the city of Detroit against the Genocide team.
It is Randall McFadden, also known as Sunburst, and the once ally of Armadillo who is the person behind the Armadillo project. Mr. McFadden is responsible for building the armor suits for the state of California. His factory in downtown Los Angeles has already finished the first half dozen Armadillos, all of which are going to the city of Los Angeles. They are currently working on the rest of the suits.
The final agreement was made between Gray Davis and Randall McFadden the day after the LA gang war. The war prompted the two parties to sit down quickly and discuss the plans. Both sides believe that a police force with such tools at hand are far better equipped to handle crime in the next century, especially with super villains on the rise.
"This is for my friend, Randall Gordon, the original Armadillo. This is his legacy," say Mr. McFadden. "I know he wanted to contribute to the world, he was just forced into positions beyond his control. Now his name will live on, as a protector of the people."
