Earlier this week Lady Blue, the superhero of Boston and the greater New England area, put a stop to an Occult Conspiracy that was operating out of Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. The occult sect, which called itself "The Resurgence of the Ancient Depravity," had killed over a dozen female high school and college students before it was exposed and destroyed.
"The Resurgence of the Ancient Depravity" is a pseudo-satanic religion committed to bring forth the resurrection of ancient pagan gods who were known for their maligned natured. The original followers of these particular gods were East Asian in origin, and during the conquering of the western world of Asia were mostly wiped out. Little is known of the details of this religion, including the names of the gods that were prayed to, with the exception that these gods lived on a lost island, similar in nature to Atlantis or the famous Mu.
Professor Ulysses Pickman, great grandson of famous local artist Richard Pickman, headed the sect that operated in Brown University. Professor Pickman, head of the archaeology department at Brown, chose most of his followers from the archaeology department at the college, with a few other students here and there. Only two of the nearly forty members of the cult came weren't college students, both of them senior students from Arkham High School. The cult met at Professor Pickman's mansion in Warwick, a mansion that has been in the family since his grandfather sold all of Richard Pickman's works off after his mysterious disappearance. There they would hold regular rituals, which included a female sacrifice once a month in the hopes of raising the gods that they worshipped.
Lady Blue reports that she started investigating the cult when a Boston University student disappeared. She tells us that her FBI contact brought her into the case, and she quickly discovered the trend of disappearances in the Rhode Island area. Most of the disappearances were not locals, but tourists, such as the student from Boston U.. Lady Blue explains that she was able to find the cult with a little help from some friends, and once the group was uncovered she was able to quickly put a stop to them.
Only two of the forty cult members are currently at large, a 21 year old man named Upton Clark, and a 19 year old girl named Olivia Green. All the other members of the cult are currently being held in Providence Jail waiting trial.
