After a biplane and a triplane the time has come to make
a monoplane. But with the wing mounted in a way known as parasol.
It may seem strange that this fighter, which did not enter service until August 1918, had an engine of only 110 hp. It was in fact the same Oberursel that powered the Fokker Dr.I. But what the small and light D.VIII lacked in power it more than made up in rate-of-climb, diving speed and manoeuvrability. The first machines tended to shed the wings and also suffered from engine failures. When the problems was cured it was too late for the D.VIII to prove itself in combat. Black was chosen among the colors that the hull piece is available in. This makes it particularly menacing. A lot of the pieces come from the 5928 Bi-plane/Bi-wing Baron. |

I think this brings out the best of this model. You can clearly see why it was known as the "Flying Razor Blade". |

The two errors of the model is visible it this view: both the rudder and the wheels are too big. Though the small 1x1 wheels is actually more in the right scale I think they look ridiculous |
